Swim Groups

Knollwood Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Knollwood Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Sparks Group

Participants must have knowledge of the four competitive strokes. All participants must be able to complete one length of the pool in each of the four competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle). Stroke technique is emphasized during practice. Participants are encouraged to participate in local MAPSC league swim meets. Participants are allowed to attend up to three practices a week.

Bronze Group

Participants must be able to swim all four strokes legally per USA Swimming rules.  Participants usually have at least one year of swim team experience.

Silver Group

Participants 11 years and older or those who have met the minimum time standard in three different events. Swimmers with at least two seasons of swim team experience. Swimmers must have a legal swim in all strokes and IM events.

Gold Group

Participant 13 years and older or those who have met the minimum time standard in three different events. Swimmers with at least three seasons of swim team experience. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month.

High School Group

All participant 15 years and older or those who have met the minimum time standard in at least three different events.

Senior Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 14 (girls) or 15 (boys). Athletes entering the Senior group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Senior group are directed towards making their Central Zone Sectional Time Standards. Minimum training sets include:

National Group

Minimum criteria for entry is (1) National time standard and a desire to be competitive on a National level. This group focuses on qualifying for Olympic Trials every 4 years. Minimum training sets for entry include:
