STJ Coaches

Tori Zieger (Head Coach)
Tori began swimming competitively when she was six years old and living in Katy, Texas. Upon moving to Missouri, she continued her career at the Northland United Swim Team. As a competitive and high school swimmer, she was a Sectionals and State finalist, and still holds several school records.

Tori is excited to bring this program to St. Joe! She has experience as the head coach for several swim teams: Pony Express Swim Team, where she coached the first Sectionals and Zones qualifiers in the history of the program; Raytown High School girl's team, where her girls broke 20 year old records; the St. Joseph Barracudas to several Conference championships; and the KC Blue Wave Swim Team, where she coached several Sectionals qualifiers and finalists, several Missouri Valley high point winners, Zones qualifiers and finalists, and NCSA Junior National qualifiers.

She plans to combine excellent technique and hard work to ensure each swimmer is the best one they can be; to provide work-outs that build endurance and strength; to implement mental as well as physical training; and to help swimmers understand and utilize their bodies properly while training, which will help them become more efficient swimmers and reduce the likelihood of injury. She recognizes that being a well-rounded individual translates to success both in life and in the water, and will work to encourage and help swimmers become and continue to be as successful in the classroom as they are in the pool.

She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Psychology in 2011 and from the University of Exeter in Exeter, England in 2012 with a Master of Science degree in Bioarchaeology/Human Osteology. She teaches seventh grade social studies at Bode Middle School in St. Joseph. She is a member of the American Swimming Coaches Association and holds a Level II certification.
