The Quick Water Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of Quick Water Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Bronze Group

Practice Time: Tuesday and Thursdays:  5:00pm-6:00pm (subject to changes due to pool availability)

Age Range: 12 and under

Coach: Tracy Morson

Attendance minimum requirement: 2 practices a week

Practices offered: 2 a week

Primary Meets: Only with coaches approval

Equipment: Water Bottle, Kick Board, Fins

Cost: USA annual membership + Monthly

Description:

This is the beginning step for our competitive swimmers. Emphasis in this group is on stroke mechanics, building a strong kick, starts and turn work, and learning to be part of a team. They will also be introduced to using the pace clock.

What you can expect to do during Beginner Group:  

Bronze Group: The average practice will be 500-700 yards.  Swimmers will learn and work towards:

1)  Learning the swim meet warm up set

2)  Able to swim freestyle for 50 yards

3)  Able to swim backstroke for 50 yards
4) Understand breaststroke and the breaststroke pull out
5) Understand butterfly

6)  Streamlining: all strokes

7)  Starts, turns, and breakouts

8)  Learn stroke appropriate drills

 

List of drills:

        Fly:  2-2-2, underwater Streamline kicks, breaststroke pull-fly k,   butterfly k on back

        Back: 6 kick switch, chin to shoulder, 1 arm, 3-12 drill

        Breast:  2 kick 1 pull, 3 second pause, breaststroke kick streamline, bungees, breaststroke pull                    freestyle kick

        Free:  6 kick switch, catch up, zipper, 1 arm, shark fin

 

 

 

 

Silver Group

Practice Time: Monday & Wednesday: 6:30pm – 7:30pm, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday:  6:00pm – 7:00pm (subject to changes due to pool availability)

Age Range: 12 and under (Max age: Summer Prior to 7th Grade)

Coach: Maria Lopez

Attendance minimum requirement: 3 - 4 practices per week

Practices offered: 5 per week

Primary Meets: Challenge meets and Divisional

Equipment: Water Bottle, Kick Board, Fins,

Cost: USA annual membership + Monthly

Minimum standards achieved to be considered for placement:

What you can expect to do during Beginner Group:  

Silver Group:  average practice will be 700-1500 yards:  attend swim meets, demonstrate and retain advance skills attend at least 3-4 practices per week

     1)  Able to swim freestyle up to 500 yards with a flip turn
     2) Able to swim backstroke for 200 yards with a flip turn.
     3)  Able to swim breaststroke for 200 yards
     4) Able to swim butterfly for 100 yards
     5) Learn the swim meet warm up set
     6) Attend swim meets

Description:

Emphasis in this group is on building a strong kick, continuing stroke mechanics progressions through drill work, starts and turns, and learning how to be a contributing teammate. These athletes will be learning to use the pace clock more through experiencing their first mini sets, while emphasis is still primarily on stroke mechanics. Swimmers in the Silver group will be focused on achieving Silver, Gold, and AA times.

 

Gold Group

Practice Time: Monday and Wednesdays: 5:30 -7:30, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday:  5:00pm – 7:00pm (subject to changes due to pool availability)

Age Range: 12 and Over (Or with permission of the coach)

Coach: Nyles Toguchi

Attendance minimum requirement: 4 practices per week

Practices offered: 5 per week

Primary Meets: Invitational, challenge meets, Divisional, Championships, and Senior Meets

Equipment: Water Bottle, Kick Board, Fins, Snorkel, Pull Buoy, Mesh bag

Cost: USA annual membership + Monthly

What you can expect to do during Beginner Group:  

Gold Group:  swims an average of 3000-5000 yards, 5 days a week

     1) Attends swim meets regularly
     2) Attempts age-appropriate events over the course of the season
     3) Is competent in all turns and starts
     4) Able to swim freestyle for at least 500 yards
     5) Able to swim backstroke for at least 200 yards
     6) Able to swim breaststroke for at least 200 yards
     7) Able to swim butterfly for at least 200 yards. 
     8) Have a desire and commitment for improvement

 

Description:

Athletes in this group have the ability to perform all of four strokes with sound mechanics. There is still a great emphasis on drill work, start and turn refinement, and leadership skills. Athletes in this group will be introduced to test sets, and more complicated conditioning sets. These athletes are experienced competitors at meets, and working towards AA or AAA time standards. In addition, athletes in this group are committed to attending invitational, PNS Meets and championship meets.
