Is my swimmer too young to join the club?
The club accepts swimmers ages 5 to 18.
How many different groups/levels are there within the club?
Speedsters (beginner), Junior (novice), Intermediate, and Senior (Advanced).
After an in-water evaluation is completed, the coaches will place the swimmer in the most appropriate group.
How many pools does the club utilize for practice?
Currently the club utilizes four pools on a weekly basis.
These are L’Anse Creuse High School, South Lake High School, Lakeview High School, and Eastpointe High School.
How many days a week does each group practice?
Speedsters- 3-4 x week / 45-60 minute sessions
Junior - 3-5 x week / 90 minute sessions
Intermediate - 4-6 x week / 2.5 hour sessions
Senior - 6-9 x week / 2.5 hour PM sessions & 1 hour AM sessions
HS Swimmers will swim with the Senior group.
What time are the practices?
Typically, practices begin at 6:00 p.m. and end by 8:30 p.m.
On rare occasions, practices may begin as early at 5:00 p.m., but never earlier.
Is the club a member of USA Swimming?
Absolutely! Michigan Swimming too!
Does the club compete in meets?
Yes! The Lakers typically compete in two meets per month (sometimes more). We encourage every swimmer to compete at meets, but swimmers are not required to do so.
Is there a trial period?
Yes! The Lakers club offers a free two-week trial period.
