Parents

Welcome to the Palomar Piranhas Swim Team! Competitive summer swimming is fun, keeps your child active, provides some structure to the summer and promotes a lifelong love of swimming. Parental support is critical for a productive summer.

Volunteer Requirement

Parents are a key component to our swim team. We are run strictly by volunteers. Our board is made up of parent volunteers and all meets are run by volunteers. We can't do it without you.

Families are required to work a minimum of three meets per summer along with volunteering at Conference Championship weekend if you have a swimmer competing. We understand that schedules and family situations sometimes make it impossible to fulfill the regular season requirement. If you cannot commit to volunteering during three meets, you may pay an additional $200 volunteer opt-out fee. This should be paid at registration. If you did not pay the opt-out fee at registration but would like to pay it now, please contact the swim team board of directors as soon as possible. The opt-out fee does not cover the Conference Championship weekend. All families who have swimmers competing that weekend are required to volunteer.

All families must complete a volunteer form (coming soon). This form allows you to rank the dates you would most like to work, let us know any dates you are not available and allow you to choose your top choices of volunteer jobs. Download a volunteer form here. For a quick overview of volunteer jobs please visit the Volunteer tab above under the "Parents" tab. Some volunteer jobs require advanced training. If you are interested in any of those jobs, please contact us and we can direct you. Volunteer forms are due to the volunteer coordinator no later than May 22. If you do not complete a form, you will be randomly assigned volunteer jobs and dates. You must fulfill those obligations.

Code of Conduct

We require all parents and swimmers to sign a code of conduct annually. This code of conduct outlines the coaches' expectations for a fun and productive summer. Please go over the Swimmer Code of Conduct with your child. It is important that he/she understand the rules and expectations. All signed codes of conduct were signed through the registration process and included in the "Documents" tab above for reference.

For these purposes, the term "harassment" includes slurs and any other offensive remarks, jokes, including other verbal, graphic, or physical conduct.

The cost of the boys’ suits are generally $32-36.

Piranhas' spirit wear will be available to order online shortly!

Team Communications

Email Newsletter: Each Sunday, during the swim season, our team newsletter is sent out via email with pertinent team information for the week. Included in this newsletter will be directions to the meet that week. Also, information on any social or team events and team announcements will be included. We have designed this e-newsletter in an attempt to streamline our team communication and to reduce the number of emails sent to team members. Some weeks additional short email announcements will be distributed as well. Sign up for the team newsletter here - at the top of the page. If you have registered your child or have signed up for the e-newsletter and are not receiving it, please check your "junk" mail box.

Text Messages

Sign up for text alerts and reminders for the 2017 season soon.  Text reminders are important because we often do not have access to a computer when there are weather delays or last minute changes.  Please have your children, babysitters and anyone else responsible for your swimmer this summer to sign up for text alerts.

Meet Sign Out:

Meet sign out will be done via the online registration system and are the only way to communicate with the coaches that your swimmer will not be attending a meet. Advance notice is imperative for a stress-free meet for the coaches and volunteers. Registering swimmers for events is a tedious process for coaches. If your swimmer will not be attending a meet you must sign him or her out five days prior to the meet date. If you do not show up and have not provided advance communication, it is possible your child will not be scheduled to swim in the next meet. We understand last minute emergencies or sickness occurs. Let a coach or board member know as quickly as possible. These will be handled on a case by case basis.

Signage at Pool: Be sure to check the team bulletin board located between the bathrooms on a regular basis. We often post information and reminders.

Have questions? Please feel free to email the Palomar Swim Team Board of Directors.

Private Lessons

The swim coaches are available for private lessons. Schedules and costs are posted on the team bulletin board. You will pay the coach directly for lessons.
