We  had tremendous success with our "Mini-Mite" program last year and we are very excited to offer this exceptional program for the 2019 season. Mini-Mites are on the KRA Swim Team, they just have a shorter practice time and are not required to swim in meets. However, our hope is that they will want to swim in the last 3 meets of the season. Other teams in the JRAC offer this amazing program, including those that we compete closely against.

The "Mini-Mite" program will allow those swimmers with basic freestyle and backstroke skills to build confidence in the water and work on technique to improve these two strokes; for example, the mini-mites will work on endurance and confidence in the water, as well as rotary breathing to one or both sides in freestyle and safe backstroke finishes! They will also begin to learn the breaststroke and the butterfly as the season progresses.

The mini-mites season will begin Tuesday, May 28 and end on Monday, July 15. (The one week later start time is to allow for the water to warm up for these younger swimmers!)

They will practice four days each week for 30 minutes.

Pre-Season practice will be held May 28 - June 13 from 4:30- 5:00 pm

Regular Season practice will be held June 17 - July 15 from 8:00 - 8:30 AM.

Mini-mites will be eligible to swim in the last 3 swim meets of the season on July 1, July 8, and July 15, respectively; they will not be required to attend these meets, but our hope is that they will want to participate with the rest of their KRA team family!

Mini-mites may also be eligible to move into the slotted mite practice during the season, per the head coach's approval.

"Mini-Mites", are on the KRA Swim Team, so the cost of the program is $100. This fee will include the swim-team t-shirt (Go Firefish!), as well as the mandatory JRAC swimmer fee.
We hope that you are as excited as we are to start our 2nd season of the "Mini-Mite" program. We think it is a great opportunity for those swimmers that may not be 100% ready for the "Mite" practice to participate and still be a member of our KRA Swim Team!
Please plan on attending Mini-Mite evaluations (TBD) if you have not already attended a swim team evaluation at St. Catherine's. A swim team coach will be present to watch your child swim and recommend joining the "Mini-Mites" or attending group swim lessons. If you attended a swim team evaluation at St. Catherine's there is no need to attend the swim lesson evaluation date.

Team suits will be available for purchase on Sunday, May 5 from 1-4 pm. While team suits will not be required for Mini-Mites we highly recommend purchasing a suit for practices and for the last 3 meets of the season. To see more specifics on the suits please click on the Apparel Tab.
