Meet Our Coaches...
Coach Grace has a love for the water and a heart for introducing swimmers to the sport. Over the course of her career she has taught swimmers of all ages, from babies taking their first dip at 6 months old, to competitive triathletes in their sixties. Her favorite part about coaching swimming is seeing athletes surprise themselves.
“At the end of the day, it’s not about swimming. It’s about healthy challenges and bringing together a community that just so happens to love the water.” – Coach Grace
Coach Sam is a lifelong swimmer who grew up in New Bern, NC.
His emphasis on technique has benefited age group swimmers, Paralympic athletes and triathletes alike. He meets each swimmer where they are, guiding them to healthy challenges and goals. His favorite part about coaching swimming is watching athletes grow past their own expectations.
When he’s not in the water, Sam enjoys running, reading and making homemade hummus.
Hey guys! My name is Betty Barsic and I am so excited to be coaching this year! I swam for Wilmington Park for 8 years from age 11 to 18. I also swam in high school for St. Vincent's Academy. I'm currently a student at UGA where I study classics with an emphasis in culture. I loved my summers as a WPST swimmer and I'm so happy to be back this summer as a coach!
Coach Lauren grew up swimming for her neighborhood pool in Atlanta and then continued at Druid Hills High school. She played Water Polo on the club team at the University of Georgia. Lauren coached her neighborhood swim team starting with the 6 and unders and then transitioning to head coach for 3 years. She has lived in Savannah for 15 years, teaching Visual Art at Coastal Middle School. She has two children, one of which will be swimming this year and is excited for a great season!
