2020 Summer Season FAQ’s

What is planned for the Dolphins Summer Season?

Our Board and Coaching Staff are busy making tentative plans for all Summer Season possibilities. Initial registration will include virtual options to keep our swimmers active and prepare them for getting back into the water.

When will our swimmers be back in the water?

We will begin regular practices as soon as safely possible. In addition to regular evening practices at BBCHS, the club is making plans for morning practices at the Kankakee Country Club and open water practice at Manteno Lake. All practices will be subject to USA Swimming, Illinois Swimming, CDC and government recommendations to ensure the safety of our swimmers.

When will registration begin?

Registration for Summer Season should be open by April 20th.

Why register in April if we don’t know when kids will be back in the water?

Initial registration will be for a Virtual Membership. This membership will be provided at minimal cost and will include online dryland practice. There will also be videos and group meetings with coaches for lessons on technique, goal setting and nutrition. A Virtual Membership will also allow our swimmers to keep in touch with each other!

For insurance purposes, USA Swimming requires all swimmers participating in online activities to have a USA Swimming membership. Most of our swimmers renewed their USA Swimming membership during this past fall/winter registration. That membership lasts for the entire year.

Will BBSC still offer an Open Water program?

Yes! Coach Carrie will be running the open water program at Manteno Lake. Just like the rest of the season, practices will be subject to USA Swimming, Illinois Swimming, CDC and government recommendations to ensure the safety of our swimmers.

If Summer Season is shorter than usual, will it also cost less?

Absolutely! The club will be prorating the membership cost based on the length of the season.

Will we be adding any new coaches this summer?

Yes! The team is excited to welcome back Coach Nick for the summer. One of our parents, Coach Molly (Sianowski) will be joining the coaching staff too. Welcome Coach Molly!

When will we know more?

The next regular Board meeting will be on April 16th at 5:30 via Zoom. An event will be created and posted on our calendar with information on how to join in. All updates on Summer Season will be sent out to our families after the meeting.

I have more questions, who do I ask?

As always, Coach Melissa is always happy to answer any questions. You can contact her at bbscmeets@yahoo.com. You may also contact the Board at board@bbscdolphins.net.
