GCST Training Group Descriptions

Senior Performance Team 

  • This group is for all high school, college, and age group swimmers age 13 and up that compete in local meets to top level state meets and national meets.
  • Workouts are 6 days per week for 2 hours on Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings.
  • Weekday mornings are also available as well as dry land strength training.
  • Workout attendance required 5 workouts per week minimum.

Junior Performance Team

  • This group is for age group swimmers that compete on a state wide level.
  • Ages 8 to 14.
  • Workouts are scheduled 6 days per week for 2 hours on Monday through Saturday.
  • Workout attendance required at least 5 days per week including Saturday mornings.
  • Weekday mornings are also available as well as dry land strength training.
  • Advancement to this group is by coach recommendation only.

Age Group 1 Team

  • For swimmers that have advanced their skills from the AG 2 Team.
  • Ages 9 to 14.
  • Swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards of all 4 strokes, do a racing start, and flip turns.
  • Practice up to 5 days per week for 1 hour and 30 minutes on Monday through Friday.
  • The group works on stroke development and racing skills.
  • No mandatory attendance requirements.

Age Group 2 Team

  • For new swimmers that are learning the basics of competitive swimming.
  • Ages 5 to 10.
  • Swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping.
  • Practice up to 5 days per week for 1 hour. Check each pool for days offered.
  • The group works on strokes and skills needed to become a competitive swimmer. 
  • No mandatory attendance requirements.

Coaches are responsible for swimmer's group assignments.  
Swimmers may be moved up or down based on coaches recommendations.
