Stingrays

Pre-requisite: swim one length of the pool

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggles, and Fins

       Stingrays is an introduction to the world of competitive swimming.  Swimmers will be taught the fundamentals of all 4 of the competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly), starts, turns, proper finishes and the safety and rules of practice and meet etiquette.  It is important for swimmers to learn the proper technique to make them more successful in their future groups.

 

Age Group Bronze

Pre-requisite:  completion of Stingrays or coach evaluation

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggles, and Fins

       Age group Bronze is a continuation of our Stingrays program.  Swimmers will continue with the fundamentals of all 4 competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishes.  Age group Bronze will be introduced to minimal interval training and gain an understanding of the pace clock.  Swimmers will continue to improve on their stroke technique and follow the safety and rules of practice and meet etiquette.  Swimmers must be able to demonstrate all 4 strokes legally.  

 

Age Group Silver

Pre-requisite:  Completion of Age Group Bronze or Coach Evaluation

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggle, Fins and Snorkel by (4/1/18) Nose Clip Encouraged

      Age Group Silver is a continuation of the Age Group Bronze program with an increase in interval training.  Swimmers will continue to improve and maintain proper stroke technique.  Swimmers will continue to perfect their starts, turns and finishes.  Swimmers in this group are learning what hard work and dedication will do to their meet times.  Swimmers in this group compete on a regular basis and will see the effects practice has on racing.

Age Group Gold

Pre-requisite:  Completion of Age Group Silver and approval from Head Coach.  Swimmer should be able to complete the following.  6 x 100 @ 2:00 Free and 200 timed kick under 4:00.

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggles, Fins, and Snorkel (Mesh Bag Optional)

       Age Group Gold swimmers will continue to focus on perfecting their technique in all four strokes.  Gold swimmers will learn training techniques and begin to focus on racing.  Gold swimmers are expected to be at a minimum of four practices a week, but there is no attendance requirement. 

Age Group Elite

 Pre-requisite:  11-12 State Qualifier.  Strong attendance history.   Approval from Head Coach Swimmer should be able to complete the following. 8 x 100 @ 1:45 Free, 300 timed kick under 5:30 400/500 swim under 6:40/6:00.

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggles, Fins, and Snorkel (Mesh Bag Optional)

      Age Group Elite is for the swimmer that has made a strong commitment to the sport of swimming.  This group is for swimmers that are 10-14 years old.  A much larger focus will be placed on training and advanced racing techniques.  Swimmers must be comfortable training under water on their stomach and back.  80% attendance must be met to remain in the group.

Juniors

Pre-requisite:13-15 years old (needs approval from Head Coach) 

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggles, Fins, and Snorkel (Mesh Bag Optional)

      Juniors is for our higher end middle schools swimmers (ages 13-15) and seasonal/out of town high school swimmers.  This group does everything the senior team does, except for morning training practices during the school week.  They should follow the senior schedule.

 

Senior

Pre-requisite:  Minimum age of 14 (high school freshman).  Strong attendance history.  Approval from Head Coach.  Swimmer should be able to complete the following.  10 x 100 @ 1:30 Free, 5 x 200 IM @ 3:30.

Required Equipment: Cap, Goggles, Short Fins, and Snorkel (Mesh Bag Optional)

       Senior swimmers have made a commitment to the sport of swimming.  80% attendance is mandatory.  These swimmers should be participating in the dryland program and morning practices throughout the year. 

 

      Group move up is ultimately under the discretion of the head coach and group coach.  Test sets/meet times/attendance and group size will all be factored in.  Move up's occur 4 times a year, September, December, April, and June.  The criteria to move up is always subject to change based on group numbers and the ability/talent of the groups.  Remember this is not swimming lessons, kids are not expected to be flying through this program, it is structured for kids to be in a group for a year or more.  If you ever have questions regarding your swimming and their practice performance please contact their group coach before or after practice, or you can contact the Head Coach.
