Swim Groups

Manta DNA offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Manta DNA to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities. The swim groups are set up based on practice frequency and ability.

Practice Location Prince George's Community College Natatorium. 


 

Developmental Group

This is our entry level group. An athlete need only to be able to swim or kick (with a kick board) the length of the pool to enter this group. This group will focus on development of the four competitive swimming strokes (Butterfly, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, Freestyle). This group will be mentored in water by senior swimmers from the Aspiring group.

Workout Days/Times: 

Saturday 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm


Natation Group

From the developmental group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are capable of swimming all four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique. This group will have a high focus on  continual technique development.

Workout Days/Times:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm


Aspiring Group

From the natation group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 8 years old and aspire to be competitive swimmers. This group is exposed to competitive training both in and out of the water. While focusing on technique, swimmers will prepare for meets based on their goals set between the swimmer, coach, and parents. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month.

MANTA DNA

Minimum age for entry into this group is 12 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a  strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete's development.
