Mini-MACS  

This is a beginner level group with a major emphasis on stroke technique, coordination and development. Swimmers are typically 8 and younger. Practice is offered 3 times per week and most swimmers attend 2. This group will be introduced to meet competition at the Suburban league level. Swimmers are expected to attend meets once the coach feels they are ready. more information

Age Group 1      

This is a beginner level competitive group with emphasis on learning all 4 strokes legally and being introduced to the sport. Swimmers are typically 8-12 years old. Attend primarily suburban league meets. Practice is offered 3 times per week. Swimmers are expected to attend meets offered for their group. more information

Age Group 2      

Stroke and turn refinement, competitive meet awareness and preparation. In order to be on Group 2, a swimmer must demonstrate knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes and turns (with emphasis on legality). Those on Group 2 are 12 and Under. Group 2 swimmers are offered 4 practices per week, and are encouraged to attend a minimum of 3. Swimmers in this practice group are introduced to goal setting. Equipment used during workouts are fins and buoys. Group 2 swimmers are encouraged to compete and work towards swimming all strokes and distances.  They are expected to attend meets offered for their group. more information

Age Group 3   

Swim 4 times per week. Primarily 11-12 year olds. Swimmers have started to exhibit good swimming skills. They spend their time on both stroke technique and training skills and processes. They are beginning to develop their aerobic base with interval training and endurance work. Attendance highly encouraged, exceptions made for involvement in other sports etc. Ten and under swimmers on this group have state or zone times and are typically female. We like to keep the younger boys on group two as that is more appropriate for their development.  The eleven and twelve year olds will be working towards state times. Swimmers should be capable of swimming all races at meets at this point. Swimmers are expected to attend meets in this group to the highest level they qualify. Age Group 4    

Swim 5 times per week. Primarily 11-13 years old. Skill level commensurate with Colorado State qualifying time standards and ability to swim specific minimum practice paces (as determined by coach for interest of group. Top swimmers in the group may be at the Zone or Sectional level. Attendance a high priority. Swimmers are well versed in technique and strategy with emphasis on both. Developing a great aerobic base to prepare them for senior level swimming. Swimmers are expected to attend meets to the highest level they qualify. Compete in all races at some point during a season. Senior 3     

Senior 3 is a beginning group for Senior level swimmers age 13 and older. Swimmers in this group should attend practice 2-3 times a week and participate in meets when desired. These swimmers practice to stay in shape, excel in high school swimming, or condition for multi-sport participation. Swimming goal is to move to Senior 5. Equipment includes paddles, fins, and pull buoys. more information

Senior 5      

Senior 5 swimmers practice up to 5 times per week, working toward silver state and state qualifying times.  These swimmer are age 13 and over or within ½ a season of turning 13. Good attendance is encouraged. The goal of this group is to move up to Sectionals Practice Group.  Equipment include paddles, fins, and pull buoys. more information

Sectionals    

Swims 9-10 times per week, dryland program in addition to water time. Attendance is a very high priority. Typically 13-14 and over girls, 14-15 and over boys. Swimmers have demonstrated a skill level commensurate with that needed to compete at the USA Swimming Sectional meet level and above. Swimmers must have the necessary self-discipline and work ethic to handle training at an elite level. Swimmers must have exhibited the necessary practice paces (as determined by the coach), throughout practices for a period of 3-6 months prior to moving to the sectional group.
