Due to pool availability and space, there have been slight modifications to a couple of squad's practice days. The changes have been bolded and are in blue.
This is for swimmers who are legal in 3 strokes with knowledge of the 4th stroke for ages 6-12. The focus of this group will be learning to swim all 4 strokes legally with a strong emphasis on developing a great kick for all 4 strokes. Practices will be approximately 45 minutes in length, on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday practice. We recommend at least 2 practices a week, but no more than 3 practices a week.
Squad 1: (6:15-7:00pm starting Aug 30th)
This is for swimmers legal in all 4 strokes, ages 7-14, who have never been on a year round swim team. The focus of this group will be continued stroke development with stroke drills, learning to use a clock, circle swimming, and dives and turns. Practices will be approximately 45 minutes in length and will be offered Monday through Friday. We recommend at least 2 practices a week, but no more than 3 practices a week.
Squad 2 (4:45-6:15pm)
This is for swimmers who are legal in all 4 strokes for ages 7-14 and have experience being on a swim team. Aerobic capacity and endurance sets will be introduced with continued emphasis on stroke development, turns and dives. Basic dryland will be incorporated into practices. Practices will be approximately 1 hour and 15 mins long and offered Monday through Friday. A minimum of 3 practices per week is recommended with a maximum of 4.
Squad 3: (4:45-6:30pm)
This is for swimmers legal in all 4 strokes, ages 9-16. Strokes will be monitored and aerobic capacity and endurance will be developed, with pacing for races, and tactics for racing being introduced. Dryland will be incorporated into practices. Practices will be one and half hours long and offered Monday through Saturday. 15 mins of dryland before swimming will be done Monday through Friday and a minimum of 4 practices a week is recommended. Depending on pool space, squad 3 swimmers 12 and over may be able to practice Saturday mornings, 9-10:30am.
High School Squad: (4:45 -6:30pm)
For those swimmers who like to swim for their high school at the Sectionals meet, but whose school does not have a team. They do not swim year round and would just like to swim to get ready to represent their High School at the Sectionals meet. Recommend attending at least 3 times a week.
Squad 4: (Dryland 5:15-6:15pm, Swimming 6:30-8:30pm, Sat 9-11am)
For those swimmers ages 11-18 committed to having swimming be the sport they plan to prioritize. An attendance commitment of a minimum of 5 practices a week will be required with a commitment of 2 one-hour dryland sessions a week on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Swimmers will need to be able to accomplish certain swim sets in order to swim at this level.
Age Group Squad: (6:30-8:30pm Mon through Friday, Sat 9-11am)
This is for those swimmers who love to swim and who meet squad 4 criteria, but who cannot commit to the squad 4 attendance requirement due to other activities taking preference over swimming.
Early Bird Squad: (5:30 - 7:00am Mon, Wed, Fri through mid December starting Monday Aug 28) Currently not offered due to lack of numbers required to make this work.
This is for those swimmers who love to swim to stay swimming fit and want to compete when time allows, but who have chosen other activities over swimming and can therefore not make afternoon practices. Swimmers must meet Squad 3 stroke and speed abilities to sign up for Early Birds. Recommend attending at least 3 times a week. After mid December we should be able to add tuesday and thursday mornings)
National Squad: (Dryland 5:15-6:15pm, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Sat 9-11am)
These swimmers have goals of making AAAA times and faster. They are committed to attending at least 6 required swimming practices a week and 3 one-hour long dryland practices a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They are able to accomplish certain swimming sets to be able to swim at this level.
National Elite Squad: (5:30am - 7:00am, 6:15pm – 8:30pm, Sat 9-11am)
Swimmers in the National Elite group are committed to attending several morning practices in addition to the afternoon swimming and dryland practices required of the National Squad. Our only mornings available to us till mid December are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Coming Soon: Masters/Triathlete (5:30am-6:30/7:00am)
For those “wiser” swimmers and triathletes who want to get a good swimming work out in a team setting. A coach will be on deck during the above mentioned times. A workout will be given to those wanting to work out during the day at their own time.
