2019-2020

August 2019

Dear New and Returning Chinook Families:

We are inviting you to be part of another great year of Chinook swimming. The 2019-2020 Chinook swim season begins the week of September 9, for the Senior swimmers, and the week of September 16, for all our Age Group swimmers. We are excited to start another year.

On-line registration for returning families begins on Thursday, August 15, 2019. We encourage returning families to register as soon as possible and before Friday, August 30, 2019. Early registration ensures your swimmer’s place on the team.

Please note that for the 2019-2020 season swimmers are required to wear a Chinook suit at all non-championship swim meets. Sylvia’s Swim will stock Chinook suits as part of its inventory throughout the swim season at its retail store in Bellevue. We have a sponsorship arrangement with Speedo and should be using their suits whenever possible, so please consider the Speedo products when ordering tech suits.

All returning athletes are eligible for a free navy Speedo Endurance team suit, or the cost can be applied to an upgraded Speedo suit,  and a free Chinook team T-shirt. Each family is only allowed one free suit per swimmer per season. Any additional suits purchased beyond the one suit per swimmer will be at the original price.

As you go through the online registration, please review the forms carefully and complete the required information.  For the initial payment installment, you will need to mail a check to the Chinook PO Box. Once your check is received, you will receive an email notification that your registration is completed.

Chinook’s fees are all-inclusive and cover annual training fees, registration fees with USA Swimming and Pacific Northwest Swimming, and meet entry fees for USA Swimming-sanctioned meets.

The Swim-a-thon fundraiser participation fee will be handled the same as previous years. The $200 family fundraising participation fee will be paid with the first registration payment. As participation is confirmed once the Swim-a-thon begins in January, a credit of $200 will be given to those participating families as early as the March fee invoice. There is no requirement for each family to raise $200; however, a good faith effort is required. This is Chinook’s sole fundraiser to help keep our fees as low as possible.

Chinook also hosts three swim meets during the season (November, March, and July). All our families are required to participate to help run these meets.

We encourage your early registration to be eligible for the great benefits listed above and to ensure your swimmer’s place on the team.

If you have questions or need additional information please visit the Chinook website at www.chinookaquaticclub.org, or contact us at chinookswimming@hotmail.com .

Thank you for being part of the Chinook family. We look forward to another wonderful season of growth, fun, and fast swimming!

All the best,

Angie Donahue, President,Chinook Board
