Swim Groups

John Day Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers. It is the goal of John Day Swim Team to offer age and skill specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Competition at swim meets is expected in all groups.

Friday practices will be focused on meet preparation for all swimmers.  Dedicated time for swimmers attending the current week swim meet will have separate time to focus on their swim meet preparation.  Swimmers not preparing for the current week swim meet will use this time to understand final preparation practices for swim meets.  Friday practice times will be announced at the beginning of the week and will be based on the number of swimmers attending the current week swim meet.

Fishies

This is our entry level group. An athlete needs to be able to swim the width of the pool, float on their back, and submerge their face in the water and blow bubbles.

Workout Days/Times:  Monday - Thursday:  8:50 a.m. - 9:55 a.m.  Friday times are to be announced.

Sea Turtles

From the Fishies group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus on fine-tuning the four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique.

Workout Days/Times:  Monday - Thursday:  7:15 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.  Friday times are to be announced.

Sea Dragons

From the Sea Turtles, athletes move into this group. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis.  Athletes entering this group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present.

Workout Days/Times:  Monday - Thursday:  6:00 a.m. - 7:50 a.m.  Friday times are to be announced.
