The Oaklantis Swim Team is steadily growing its presence on the Zone 2 / Northern California meet circuit. We currently offer four coached groups; see group descriptions below.
Developmental: 5:15 PM-6:15 PM, MONDAY-THURSDAY
JUNIOR 1: 5:45 PM-7:15 PM, MONDAY-THURSDAY
JUNIOR 2: 5:45 PM-7:15 PM, MONDAY-THURSDAY
ALl groups: 5:30PM-7:00PM FRIDAY
The Development Team consists of swimmers who have started learning the four basic strokes but are still refining their technique. The focus of this group is stroke technique, developing legal strokes for competition, learning legal starts and turns, and learning the etiquette of swim practice.
The Junior 1 and Junior 2 teams consist of swimmers of all ages who demonstrate legal starts, turns, and the ability to swim four legal strokes. The Junior teams practice 4-5 times per week for 1-1.5 hours. Within these groups there are differentiated practices based on developmental level and need. These groups focus on technical development, aerobic development, learning healthy competition routines and habits, basic nutrition, setting and achieving goals, and last -- but definitely not least -- mental and emotional development around the sport of swimming.
The Senior group practices 5-8 times per week for 1-2.5 hours including dryland where appropriate. This group is focused on technical expertise, aerobic development, strength development, mental and emotional development, setting and achieving goals, pursuing swimming in college, and beyond. Swimmers are expected to make all practices and compete in all team meets.
