How long is the season?
The season runs May 11th - July 26th. This includes both pre-season and post-season.
How do I register?
You can register online, by phone (303)791-2500, or in person at the registration desk at any of the Highlands Ranch Community Association rec centers. Check out the REGISTRATION tab to make sure you have all paperwork and checklist items complete!
IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER at the Highlands Ranch Community Association rec centers, you need to fill out this form and turn it into the registration desks prior to registering. Without this information, we will not be able to put you into our systems and you will be unable to sign up.
How much does it cost?
2020 fees are $315 per swimmer for HRCA members and $370 per swimmer for non-members. This cost covers pool use, prelim fees, league fees, and staffing costs. There are additional fees for equipment and post-season meets.
Families registering multiple swimmers will receive a 5% discounted registration cost for each additional swimmer. This discount is not applied upfront - but will be refunded to the account after pre-season.
What are the requirements for trying out for the Seahawks?
Swimmers must be between ages 6 and 18 and be able to swim a 50 freestyle with side breathing and a 50 backstroke comfortably, without stopping. When we evaluate swimmers, we are looking at form, not at speed. The strokes do not have to be perfect, but they must be competent (i.e. not lifting head to breathe). It is highly recommended that all swimmers have experience practicing on one of our year-round coached programs or participate on another competitive team BEFORE registering.
What equipment to I have to get?
We require each swimmer to have a team suit, team cap, goggles and a water bottle to bring to practice every day. Certain practice groups are required to have fins. We highly recommend having multiple pairs of goggles every day in case your pair breaks. All other equipment is optional.
Can my swimmer swim year round club team simultaneously with the Seahawks?
Yes, they can. However, in order to swim in Prelims/Championships they need to attend 3 out of the 5 meets that we offer during the season (that includes our Practice Meet and Dual Meets). Also, swimmers that swim a club team during the summer cannot swim at the State Meet at the end of July.
Do I have to attend all the Parent Meetings?
YES! Especially new swimmer parents. We will be going over important information at all meetings and going over changes from last year. It is required that you attend.
How do I volunteer for meets?
If your child is swimming in a meet, you MUST BE AVAILABLE to volunteer. If you would like to sign up for a specialized (some require training) volunteer position, you can do so at the registration meetings before the beginning of the season. The remainder of the weekly volunteer positions are available for signup when you sign your swimmer up for the meet. Any questions regarding volunteering shifts should be directed to the Parent Volunteer Coordinators please e-mail them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteer assignments will be accessed through TeamUnify by clicking on the "Job Sign-Up" button for each swim meet or team event. The shift that you signed up for becomes your responsibility and so if you need a sub you must find one on your own and communicate who your replacement is to the Parent Volunteer Coordinators.
