Spare Time Aquatics (STAS) began in 2002 at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club when the Rio Rapids summer recreation team formed a fall club team. The team grew and in 2003 a year round program was formed and named Spare Time Aquatics, Sacramento (STAS).
Since the inception of the team we have had swimmers qualify for the following:
- Jr. Olympic finals
- Farwestern finals
- High School Section finals
- National Age Group (NAG) top 16
- High School All-American
- USA Swimming Jr. Nationals
- USA Swimming Nationals
- World Championships
- Olympic Trials
Spare Time Aquatics has grown to include groups at the Rio del Oro Racquet Club, Broadstone Racquet Club, Diamond Hills Sports Club and Spa, Gold River Racquet Club, Johnson Ranch Racquet Club and the Laguna Creek Racquet Club . Each club is open to all swimmers who would like to train, compete and have fun on a USA Swimming team.
