RACE TOWARDS A MILLION

The Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito would like to thank you for being a part of the Boys and Girls Club's Aquatics family.  As a member of the Rancho San Dieguito Swim Team, Solana Beach Swim Masters/Intro to Masters, the BGC Swim Lesson program, or a community lap swimmer, you are a part of our family.  Over the past 10 years, we have benefited from past legacy contributors from our Share the Dream Campaign that built our competition pool. You see their names as you visit the pool every day. We are proud to have built one of the most respected Aquatics Departments in San Diego.  Each year since 2012, USA Swimming has recognized RSD as a “Top 200 Club” out of 40,000 in the country. Since the opening of our competition pool 10 years ago, over 25,000 kids have swum in our pools. We are excited to announce our “Racing Towards A Million” Pool Campaign to refurbish our facilities and guarantee another decade of excellence.

Our pools cost in excess of $100,000 in routine repairs and maintenance annually.  In order to increase safety, optimize swimmer experience, increase our efficiency, and control future expenses we need to make much-needed repairs and enhancements to our facilities.  Raising $1 million with this campaign will allow us to address crucial immediate repairs and safeguard maintenance issues as well as provide sustainability of our pools. Some of the immediate projects that we will be commencing in August are:

  • Re-plastering both pool shells
  • Replacing the rusted pool fence
  • Refurbishing the men and women’s locker rooms
  • Covering the pool mechanical/filter room (protecting over $500,000 in equipment)
  • Resurfacing the pool deck
  • And much more!

We need your help in preventing our aquatics program and competition pools from deteriorating to a point that would become detrimental to the program. We need your help in meeting a significant amount of our goal by August to meet our immediate funding requirements. By donating an amount that is meaningful to you and your family, we will continue to be our community’s most utilized facility for aquatic programming. Here are some of the highlights of our programs from recent years:

*On average, 12 RSD swimmers earn a college swimming scholarship annually. Our alumni have received approximately $3 million worth of scholarships to over 60 universities.

*The RSD Swim Team has placed 1st or 2nd at the Junior Olympic Championships each year and recently took 3rd place at the Speedo Sectionals Championships. We have had more qualifiers than any other San Diego program in the following Championships: US Junior Nationals, US Nationals, and US Olympic Trials. RSD has also placed more athletes in US Swimming’s Diversity Camp, Zone Select Camp, and the National Select camp. This year, RSD swimmers won a national title in the men’s 200 free relay at Junior Nationals.

*We teach over 8,000 swim lessons each year in an effort to keep our kids safe in the pool and at the beach. We are proud to provide free swim lessons to 120 local youth residing in Eden Gardens, Solana Beach each summer, championing water safety for all in our coastal community.

*Our impact cannot be denied with over 700 pool users making a splash in our pools every single day.  We are open 7 days a week and approximately 100 hours a week!
