The Alper J Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of AJSC is to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing them to the best of THEIR abilities.

Swim School

The Alper J Swim School offers water safety, drowning prevention, and learn-to-swim classes for the youngest members of AJSC.  We offer "Parent & Baby" classes for infants 0-2 years old, groups for 3 & 4-year-olds, 5 & 6-year-olds, and 7-10-year-olds.  We provide these classes on a month-to-month billing basis.

3 & 4 Year Olds 

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday 3:20pm - 4:00pm 
  • Tuesday & Thursday 4:00pm - 4:40pm 
  • Saturday & Sunday 11:40am - 12:20pm 

5 & 6 Year Olds

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday 4:00pm - 4:40pm
  • Tuesday & Thursday 3:20pm - 4:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 12:20pm - 1:00 pm

7 - 10 Year Olds 

  • Monday through Friday 4:40pm - 5:20pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 1:00pm - 1:40pm

Private Lessons

Private swim lessons are available for ALL ages and abilities.  This includes: Fear of water, drowning prevention, novice level swimmers, recreational swimmers, adult learn-to-swim, and in-depth/technical training for competitive athletes/triathletes.  We are here to make you feel at home.  Our private lessons are held in a one-on-one format specifically catered to your current skill level and desired goals. We provide these classes on a month-to-month billing basis.

Saturday & Sunday: 10:00am - 2:00pm

Swim Fit

This is our entry-level group. Swim Fit athletes must work toward having four legal strokes, legal turns & underwaters, learn how to read a pace clock, and be between the ages of 11 - 18 yrs. old.  Swim Fit athletes may compete in two meets per year while holding a USA FLEX membership.  Once a Swim Fitter moves up to the competition team, they will upgrade their USA Swimming membership and will be able to compete in an unlimited number of competitions throughout the year.

Silver Group

From Swim Fit, younger athletes move into this group.  Athletes in this group already have four legal, competitive strokes.  They focus on having fun, perfecting stroke technique, drills, starts, and turn technique.  Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month.  Silver Group swimmers are encouraged to make all five practices each week.

Gold Group

From the Silver group, athletes move into the Gold Group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 10 years old and have completed the Silver Group move-up skills list. This group is introduced to training for the first time while trying to prepare for the 200 & 500 Freestyle and 200 & 400 Individual Medley races. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month.  Gold Group swimmers are encouraged to make all five practices each week.

Saturday:                  9:30am - 11:00am

Senior Group

The minimum age for entry into this group is 13 years old. Athletes entering the Senior Group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present.  Senior Group athletes will train all energy systems, strokes, and distances (Aerobic, IM, Prime Stroke, Weak Stroke, Anaerobic, Threshold, Recovery, and VO2 Max).  This weekly microcycle is crucial to the athletes' development. Athletes in this group train for the entire National Order of Events.  Competition at swim meets is expected in this group.   Senior swimmers are encouraged to make all six practices each week.

Masters Group

The Masters Group is for anyone 18 years of age or older that would like to swim for fun, fitness, triathlon training, competitive swimming, open water training, or to rehab an injury.  Practices are organized, actively run by a coach, and run in a group setting.  Practices are written following a weekly microcycle of all energy systems and strokes (Aerobic, IM, Recovery, Prime Stroke, Racing, and Threshold). This group is open to swimmers of ALL abilities.  However, this is not a “Learn to Swim” program, basic swimming skills are necessary.
