Code of Conduct

Hydro4 Swimming | Code of Conduct

Our primary goal is to help each swimmer achieve their full swimming potential. The principles of fairness, respect, responsibility and safety should be maintained. We want to promote the best possible conduct and create a healthy, successful swim experience.

Coaches’ Responsibilities:

  • As a coach I will teach all swimmers the fundamentals of competitive swimming.

  • I will continue to consistently provide instruction, advice and encouragement during practices and meets.

  • Coaches will recognize the goals of each swimmer while providing feedback to swimmers on race performance, suggestions for improvement and providing practice schedules that promote success.

  • Actively develop “team spirit” among the swimmers by instilling pride, self‑esteem and an overall positive attitude

  • Encourage swimmers to support teammates as a part of their sportsmanship.

  • Conduct themselves as role models at all times by setting good examples for punctuality, appearance, language, attitude, sportsmanship, team spirit, and character

  • Coaches will develop an appropriate working relationship with swimmers based on mutual trust and respect.

  • Work closely with the Board and/or delegated representatives to clear misunderstandings, to get help and to make the program as rewarding and successful for all as possible.

Swimmers’ Responsibilities:

  • I agree to abide by the team rules that will help us accomplish our team goals, have good team spirit, swim our best and have a great time.

  • Swimmers are expected to show respect for the coaches, pool staff, parent helpers, my team members and my opponents at all times.

  • All swimmers will be at practice and meets on time with proper swim gear ready to give your best effort.

  • Swimmers will listen carefully to instructions and work hard to improve your stroke techniques as instructed by coaches. Pool time is valuable for all involved.

  • I will not interfere with the productivity of another swimmer during any practice session or meet.

  • Ask questions if instructions are not understood. Wait until instructions and explanations have been given before asking your question. The answer may be contained in the instructions and explanation being given.

  • Pay attention to the order of events at meets. Be mentally engaged and ready to swim.

  • Seek out your coach before and after you swim an event for individual feedback and advice.

  • Accept constructive criticism as well as you accept praise.

  • Be willing to make sacrifices for the Team. This means giving 100% effort.

  • Always demonstrate the team in a positive manner. I will show good sportsmanship whether I win or lose.

  • As a matter of team pride, I will leave the team area neat and clean at the conclusion of each practice session and meet. I understand this also applies to pool rest rooms and pool decks.

  • When unsupervised in the locker room, behave as you are expected to behave on the pool deck.

  • Use appropriate language. Avoid using profane or abusive language or obscene gestures.

  • Dishonesty, theft, and vandalism will not be tolerated.

  • Respect all athletes verbally and physically.
