What is Masters swimming?

In addition to providing a competitive youth swim training program, Santa Fe Aquatic Club offers a robust Masters program.

Lots more great information for Masters Swimmers in New Mexico, including Masters swim groups around the state, and information on upcoming classes, courses, and clinics can be found on the New Mexico Masters swimming website.  You can read more about Master's swimming in general here.

Masters swimming at SFAC

The SFAC Masters program welcomes adults of any ability level. We cater to  three basic categories of swimmers:

  1. Fitness

  2. Triathlon training

  3. Competitive

Swimmers are grouped in lanes by ability level and our coach will tailor workouts to match the ability and fitness level of each group and swimmer so that all participants get the most out of each workout.

SFAC hosts dual sanctioned USAS/USMS meets throughout the year. While not mandatory, these meets provide our Master's swimmers the opportunity to compete with youth and masters swimmers from around the State, and a way to formally track their progress.

The SFAC Masters workouts are currently Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6:00-7:30am. We also offer a Saturday workout as often as pool and swim meet schedule allows, but averaging about 2 per month. Saturday practice is 9:30-11:30.

All Masters practices are held at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center. We congregate on the pool deck at the diving board end of the pool ready to swim at 6/9:30 am.

How to Join?

For insurance purposes, we require Masters swimmers to be a member with USMS. The annual 2020 fee is $60. This registration process is quick and can be completed online. USMS offers a free 30 day trial period if you would like to come and try us out before committing to joining. Just fill out your information on the USMS online form or print out the form and bring it with you to your first workout.

What does it cost?
Our Masters swimmers have the option of paying monthly ($100 for all practices), or as a drop-in which is $15 per practice. Either way, in addition to coaching, the cost includes entry to the GCCC.
