Greenwood Park Frogs Swim Team

2018 Coaching Staff

Julia Pedersen

Head Coach

Julia Pedersen is a long time Frog who swam on the team from age 5, on. At age 7, she joined a relay quartet with fellow assistants, Erin and Emily until their graduation as seniors. Together, they set many individual and relay records, won countless gold medals and created amazing frog memories. Alongside these friends and a historic team, they were able to conquer the "triple crown", which most on the team then consider their favorite GP memory ever- winning A division, winning Peach Bowl, and finally winning Tri-County.

Julia club swam for the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club (GPAC) from the age of about 9, on. After graduating from Gloucester Catholic High School, where she was the President of the student body, Julia attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT on a swimming scholarship. She specialized in sprint freestyle and the breastroke events. Here, she served as captain for two years and swum alongside Emily Shenk as teammates yet again. The SHU Pioneers were a part of the Division 1 Northeast Conference, a setting that put Julia, Emily, and Erin together again- competing often against Wagner College where Erin was a decorated Seahawk. Who knew they'd one day share the pool deck yet again, at their childhood swim club?!

In May, 2018, Julia will graduate again from Sacred Heart, this time with her Masters in Education. She is completing her student teaching in Orange, CT in a third grade classroom. She served as assistant coach for GP under coach Elise Blaschke for three summers, where she credits Elise for her love of the job, further expertise of the field, supportive guidance and passion for coaching. She coached beside assistant Nick, for one of these summers and is excited to continue their work together. Julia is elated to be back on the pool deck, around friends and families that have allowed her to call Greenwood Park her second home for over 15 years. She looks forward to bring a fun-filled summer, all the while hoping to bring long term success and old traditions to the program. Go frogs!!
