Rio Rapids will be able to get back in the water Monday June 22nd. It will however look different than we are used to. We will be offering a 6-week clinic that will run from June 22 until July 31st. In order to accommodate as many swimmers as can we will be offering two options. Either M/W or T/Th with alternating Fridays.
We will only be having 2 swimmers per lane for a total of 16 swimmers per practice, and a total of 32 swimmers total per age group in order to comply with the social distancing guidelines. With this set up we can accommodate 192 swimmers across all the age groups.
Cost of the clinic will be $225
The groups and practice times will be as follows:
9:00am to 10:00am – High School Swimmers (Swimmers who are already in high school)
10:00am to 11:00am – Middle School Swimmers (Swimmers who are already in middle school)
11:00am to 11:45am – 11 and 12’s
11:45pm to 12:30pm – 9 and 10’s
12:30pm to 1:00pm – 7 and 8’s
1:00pm to 1:30pm – 5 and 6’s
Fridays for the M/W group will be: June 26th, July 10th, and July 24
Fridays for the T/Th Group will be: July 3rd, July 17th, and July 31st
Registration for this clinic will open Wednesday morning 6/17 at 9:00am.
Unfortunately, because of the social distancing requirements coaches will not be able to get into the water with our swimmers. That means that any swimmer who is not water safe or cannot swim 25 yards unassisted will not be able to participate in this program. Not to worry – Tomorrow (Monday June 15th) we will be finalizing our plan to start the learn to swim program that will offer private swimming lessons to those kiddos not quite ready to make it across the big pool. Heads up though, this will different as well, any swimmer who is not water safe will have to have parent in the water with them while the instructor guides from the deck. (I know not ideal but it’s all we can do until Stage 4)
When you register you will be choosing either the M/W group or the T/Th Group. You will be ‘reserving’ your spot in the 6-week clinic. If you miss a day of your schedule practice, we will not be able to offer any makes ups.
