Safe Sport Recognition Program
The USA Swimming Safe Sport Club Recognition program allows a USA Swimming member club to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members through the development and implementation of club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, Safe Sport best practices and training to athletes and parents. Safe Sport Recognized Clubs earn a badge to display on their website, and these clubs will be designated as Safe Sport Recognized in USA Swimming’s Find-a-Team online search tool. In addition, MW clubs will also recieve a team banner from the MWS Safe Sport team to display at their pool/meets!
If you have any questions or need help getting started, contact MWS Safe Sport Chair, Aidan Cho
"I am very proud that Brownell Talbot made history by becoming the third team in Nebraska to become SafeSport recognized.
As the leader of Brownell Talbot Swimming, I have a lot of people that look at me to gain confidence and trust. By achieving Safe Sport recognition, it helps us show our members that Brownell Talbot Swimming is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for athletes as they seek to achieve their goals in our sport."
-Jimmy Parmenter, Head Coach & Aquatics Director
How To Get Started
Similar to Club Recognition, club administrators log into the Club Portal (right) to begin the process. This is a project that your team’s Safe Sport Coordinator or board can help with. Safe Sport Club Recognition must be renewed every 2 years and recognition status can be revoked or denied if issues arise.

Keeping Athletes First Incentive
On Tuesday, April 6, USA Swimming announced new incentives in the Keeping Athletes First Action Plan. The Keeping Athletes First program, introduced by USA Swimming in December 2019 provides financial resources to USA Swimming programs to better assist athletes and clubs. As part of this incentive program, USA Swimming began offering teams who completed the Safe Sport Recognition Program a chance to win a visit from U.S. National Team members. While that incentive is still current through December 2021, USA Swimming is now offering all SSRP certified clubs a pop-up changing tent upon approval of their application.
SSRP Training Opportunities
Starting April 2020, the USA Swimming Safe Sport staff has been hosting Zoom trainings for parents, minor athletes and coaches to assist clubs in completing the Training and Education requirement of the Safe Sport Club Recognition program. | Click here for more information
"The top priority of Sarpy County Swim Club is the safety and wellbeing of our members. While we were completing the Safe Sport Recognized Club application, it showed us that we needed to make some changes from within. After submitting the application and establishing additional policies, we were able to achieve SSRP status and became the first MWS Safe Sport certified club. The SSRP application was easy to complete and with the help of Midwestern Swimming and USA Swimming, we were able to further develop our Safe Sport culture."
