Strathcona County Swim Club

“Return to Swim” Plan

IMPORTANT considerations regarding the swim practices.

  1. Participation is voluntary.
  2. Participants with any signs of illness should NOT participate.
  3. Swimmers with a compromised immune system or immune vulnerability should NOT participate.
  4. Participants with any specific concerns are NOT required to participate.
    1. Swimmers can be registered with the Swim Club and opt to wait for a period of time prior to commencing swim practice attendance.
  5. If you desire to discuss any aspect of rules & procedures of our safe “Return to Swim Protocol”, you are encouraged to contact the following individuals.
    1. SRAYS Head Coach, Mark Chantaj
    2. SRAYS Covid-19 Representative, Brenda Nolan

The "SRAYS COVID-19 Online Screening Tool" must be filled out prior to your swimmer attending every swim practice. This element of our "Return to Swim" plan is non-negotiable. 

 

KINSMEN LEISURE CENTERSherwood Park

Section A: Prior to arriving at the Kinsmen Leisure Center (“KLC”)

  1. Parents to complete “Alberta Health Daily Check-List” ,  “Swimmer Check-list” and "SRAYS COVID-19 Online Screening Tool" with their swimmer(s) BEFORE EVERY SWIM PRACTICE prior to them
    1. Dropping their swimmer(s) off at the KLC
    2. Swimmer(s) leaving home if they self-drive to KLC
  2. Please note that car-pooling is NOT advised.
  3. Ensure swimmers have their swim suit worn underneath clothing before arriving to KLC.
  4. Please bring one personal bag for clothing and one equipment bag for items required for practice
  5. Swimmers are only allowed to train during allocated times of their cohorts.
  6. Swimmers are not permitted to train in different sessions with different schedules/cohorts.
    1. Swimmers can be members of ONLY ONE sport/activity/extra-curricular cohort 
  7. Swim Alberta is recommending parents of Competitive Program swimmers do not observe practice, exceptions can be made for Silver-Ray Swim School parents in Kinsmen Leisure Center balcony (capacity 15 individuals).

Section B: Facility Arrival

  1. Please aim to arrive at KLC for the recommended “Facility Arrival Times” for your swimmers’ cohort. This is to ensure there is only one cohort within KLC changerooms at a time and we minimize any potential “changeroom congestion” (max 20 individuals at one time per changeroom).
  2. All swimmers are required to wear masks upon arrival at the KLC.
  3. All swimmers will meet with a designated “Kinsmen Leisure Center Ambassador” at front of KLC to conduct Contact Tracing log, Check-list confirmations & attendance before being allowed to enter changerooms.
    1. KLC Ambassadors will be KLC employees, not SRAYS coaching staff.
  4. Once swimmers have entered the aquatic facility, parents may leave. Parents required to stay incase swimmer has not submitted their online questionnaire for that day as swimmers will not be allow in facility until it is complete.

Section C: Changerooms

  1. Swimmers to avoid as much surface contact as possible traveling through facility and on to the pool deck by keeping hands to themselves.
  2. Swimmers to spend AS LITTLE TIME POSSIBLE in KLC changerooms (It is highly recommended to “Rehearse” at home what your swimmer needs to do in the changeroom so they are as prepared as possible)
    1. What is in their swim bags.
    2. Where everything is located in their swim bags.
    3. Can they get everything done in under 10min?
    4. Shower, shampoo, condition, body wash, exfoliate etc. after practice AT HOME
  3. Swimmers will meet at their cohorts designated “Meeting Point” on the KLC pool deck (Please see Power-Point)
  4. All personal items not required for swim practice are to be placed in the swimmers “personal bag” and kept in a locker. All necessary training equipment & items can be brough on deck and kept at cohorts “meeting point”.

Section D: Facility Departure

  1. Swimmers are to walk directly to their cohorts “Meeting Point” to dry-off and retrieve belongings
  2. Once all swimmers within cohort are prepared to exit pool deck, they will enter changerooms as a group.
  3. Swimmers to check-out with KLC ambassador once leaving changerooms.
  4. Swimmers are to leave as soon as they reach their car. Please no congregating in parking lot.
  5. Parents are not allowed to enter pool deck (training area) to collect swimmer. Parents must wait at exit point in parking lot.

 

HARBOUR POOL, Fort Saskatchewan 

Section A: Prior to arriving at Harbour Pool (“HP”)

  1. Parents & Swimmers to go through all necessary checklist “Alberta Health Daily Check-List”“Swimmer Check-list” and complete “SRAYS COVID-19 Athlete Screening Questionnaire” BEFORE EVERY SWIM PRACTICE
  2. Please note that while Fort Saskatchewan is 15min outside of Sherwood Park and carpooling is allowed for individuals within the same cohort. It is encouraged to not carpool to HP.
  3. Ensure swimmers have their swim suit worn underneath clothing before arriving to HP.
  4. Please bring one personal bag for clothing and one equipment bag for items required for practice
  5. Swimmers are only allowed to train during allocated times of their cohorts.
  6. Swimmers are not permitted to train in different sessions with different schedules/cohorts.
    1. Swimmers can be members of ONLY ONE sport/activity/extra-curricular cohort 
  7. Swim Alberta is recommending parents of Competitive Program swimmers do not observe practice.

Section B: Facility Arrival

  1. Swimmers are to wear a mask upon arrival at HP
  2. Swimmers are to check-in with an SRAYS volunteer in HP lobby to ensure their “SRAYS COVID-19 Athlete Screening Questionnaire” has been completed for that days swim practice.
  3. Swimmers are to take a grey tray where their personal possessions will be kept and stored on-deck for the duration of swim practice.
  4. Once swimmers have entered the aquatic facility, checked-in with SRAYS volunteer and proceeded to changerooms with their grey tray parents may leave.

Section C: Changerooms

  1. All swimmers may choose to use “Universal Changeroom 1” or “Universal Changeroom 2” prior to entering pool deck.
  2. No personal possessions are to be left in the changerooms. Essential training items are to be brought to “SAYS Meeting Area” and non-essential training items are to be left in grey tray.
  3. Swimmers to spend AS LITTLE TIME POSSIBLE in HP changerooms.
  4. Swimmers will meet at their cohorts designated “SRAYS Meeting Point” which is the elevated portion of the far wall of the facility. SRAYS Head Coach will meet swimmers at meeting point.

Section D: Facility Departure

  1. Swimmers are to walk directly to their cohorts “Meeting Point” to dry-off and retrieve belongings
  2. Once all swimmers within cohort are prepared to exit pool deck, they will enter “Universal changeroom 3” as a group.
  3. Swimmers to place any HP equipment they used in plastic bins outside located in front of “Universal Changeroom 3” entrance.
  4. Swimmers are to leave as soon as they reach their car. Please no congregating in facility lobby or parking lot.
  5. Parents are not allowed to enter pool deck (training area) to collect swimmer. Parents must wait outside in parking lot.

 

Updates, Alterations & Cancellations

All alterations or cancellations will be guided by any changes to Alberta Health Services & Swim Alberta guidelines or by Kinmen Leisure Center/Harbour Pool management.

All alterations or cancellations will be communicated as soon as possible via the swim clubs TeamUnify email system.
