The Swimathon will be Trails Swim Team's primary fundraiser for the year and is essential to our program for this season so that we can continue to provide a healthy, safe outlet for the Algonquin area youth. As a non-profit organization, the registration dues we charge our families are only part of the money required to cover all the operational costs of our team each year, which is even more evident during the Covid-19 crisis. Without being able to host the Trails Invitational swim meet, which is usually our biggest fundraiser, funds from this event directly benefit all of our hardworking athletes across all ages and abilities, particularly to pay for the pool time and staff. It is vital that each and every family helps the club to not only survive but thrive this year!
Help us get all the kids back together at the pool this summer!
The Finances. The Trails Swim Team has been operating at a deficit for a few years. As a nonprofit, we keep registration reasonable and give all funds back to the swimmers. However, the rising cost of facility rental, plus operating expenses and insurance, especially after last summer, the team does not have the cash needed to pay all our expenses in order to get the kids in the pool this summer. The coming 2021 season, with anticipated lower enrollment and restrictions that prohibit us from hosting the Invitational, the goal is to break as close to even this year that we can. Our biggest annual expense is the facility rental of the pool. We are so thankful for the Village of Algonquin, which has negotiated with the team a generous one-year contract at a reduced rate. However, this is still our biggest expense. Other annual expenses include coaching staff salaries and club insurance (liability insurance and unemployment insurance). In order to keep pricing accessible for swimmers especially in a year when so many have gone without such opportunities, we are asking for your assistance in raising money for the club through the Swimathon.
The Raffle. The raffle at the Invitational was always a huge hit! In order to keep the tradition and motivate our athletes and families to meet fundraising goals, Trails will have raffle basket prizes! You do not need to be present to win. Prizes include gift certificates for: Algonquin Commons, Battle House Laser Tag, Blessed Little Kitchen, Cattlemen's, Churro Y Chocolate, Cinemark, Handmade on Main, Lou Malnati's Pizza, Lucy's Hair Salon, McAlister's Deli, Organic Rootz, Paintball Xplosion, Pinecrest Golf Club, Port Edward, Raging Waves Water Park, Syrup, Taylor Street Pizza and more. We also will have experiential prizes with the coaches!
Our Goal. The Trails Swim team goal is a minimum of $100 per family or $8000 minimum to meet our scaled back budget for the year. Share with friends and family! Athletes are encouraged to be involved! Remember, all donations are tax deductible.
Business sponsors. Any businesses that would like to make a flat donation to the team on behalf of a swimmer will also receive sponsorship benefits. In exchange for business donations of $150 or more, Trails will provide marketing exposure on its web site and facebook as well as signage at the pool and recognition plaques to hang at your place of business, depending on the sponsorship level. Funds go directly to area athletes!
