About:
I will be a junior this fall at Mountain View High School, and I have swum at Swim Atlanta for over 10 years. Swimming is so important to me and has had such a huge impact on my life. Outside of swimming some things I love are reading, spending time with family and friends, and art. In school I really enjoy learning about history and science, but some of my favorite classes the past two years have been art, French, and marketing. I have been a member of SLT and DECA at my school and I currently serve on the Junior Athlete Board for Swim Across America (Atlanta). I love helping and serving others all around our community.

Why do you want to be an Athlete Rep?
I want to be the next LSC Junior Athlete Rep because athlete involvement and voice is super important to me. The swimming world is such a big community, and I love that about the sport. I would love to expand my role within this community, and I know it is crucial to give athletes a voice. As swimmers, we have different perspectives than all the adults who work to make our sport possible. Having athlete representation allows for us to be able to give input about this sport we give so much too. It also allows for our sport to be better connected from the grassroots level to USA Swimming itself. One thing that I have always been passionate about is making sure that everything is fair and just. I feel that I will be good at being a Junior Athlete Rep because I have many strong leadership and teamwork skills that I have acquired from volunteering and leading in different areas of my life. I would love to be a junior athlete rep or serve on any other committee to make sure the athlete voice is represented in our LSC.

About:
Hello, I am Garrett Kennedy, and I am a rising junior in Athens, Georgia. I have been swimming year-round with the Athens Bulldog Swim Club for ten years, and I am the youngest of three siblings who all swam at ABSC. I am currently enrolled at Athens Academy where I also swim for the high school team. I enjoy how swimming has helped me to be more involved in my community. For the past two years, I have helped coach a county-sponsored summer league team that serves areas that are under-represented in the sport of swimming. I have also worked as a lifeguard, a swimming mentor, and am currently working on a swim instructor certification. Outside of the pool, I am a huge Georgia football fan - Go Dawgs!

Why do you want to be an Athlete Rep?
I would like to become the next LSC Junior Representative because I am interested in getting more involved in the sport of swimming and would like to help support Georgia swimming. Swimming has been a huge part of my life, and I think it brings people together in a positive way. I enjoy talking to people and hearing about their experiences, and that would enable me to be an advocate in this position. I also believe it is important to give back, and I think my love of the sport and my understanding of it would help me to represent swimmers in the LSC in a great way.

I am a rising junior at North Paulding High School and have been swimming for about nine years.  My favorite race is the 200 Butterfly.  I love swimming because it has helped me develop my strong determination, my competitiveness, and helped me build great relationships with my coaches and teammates in and out of the water.  I am also somewhat of a history fanatic, and I really enjoy reading books about our nation (and our world) came to be what it is now.  I have big goals in mind for my future and swimming plays a vital role in them.

Why do you want to be an Athlete Rep?
I want to be the next LSC Junior Rep because I want to see this sport grow across the state of Georgia and help better it for those of us already involved!  I believe I would be a good fit because I have held many leadership roles in the past, and I have a strong personality that enables me to relate to people well and listen to what others have to say.  I also think with the big picture in mind and want to leave things better than how I found them.

About:

I am interested in being the next LSC Junior Rep because I have learned so much about the Georgia LSC through my work as my team’s athlete representative to the LSC. I have enjoyed attending the LSC annual meetings and would like to be able to represent the athlete’s point of view in larger discussions about swimming in Georgia.  In addition, I am interested in learning more about the operations of the Georgia LSC and how we can build even better swimmers in Georgia. I enjoy working as part of a team so I am excited to work with the senior rep and I am looking forward to helping to organize and host more events for the Athlete reps across the state.

Sophia Parker ~ Stingrays Swimming

About:

I have been swimming year around for about 3 years and have been on Stingrays for the entirety of those years.  Before hand, I played soccer at a competitive level and participated on a summer swim league each year.  I then decided to pursue swimming full time instead of continuing with soccer.  I realized I really had a competitive drive in the sport, and it was my real passion.  I also coach a summer swim league team and have been doing this for the past 2 years.  Outside of swim, I attend Lassiter High School and am in the biomedical STEM program there.  I hope to attend a college that provides me with a high level of academic education while also swimming there.

Why do you want to be an Athlete Rep?

I want to be the LSC next Junior Rep to represent the voices of Georgia swimmers and to help promote the sport.  Although I have been swimming for a shorter amount for time than most swimmers at this level, I believe I have grown close to many of the athletes in the swim community and understand their needs and desires.  I also think it is important to provide opportunities to swimmers such as activities to help them improve or simply have fun.  I think that I would be excellent as Junior Rep since I am very committed and motivated as a swimmer.  My dedication to the sport will encourage me to work hard as Junior Rep and exceed my position's responsibilities.  I also think that my ability to communicate with others will help me to exchange current information regarding swimming between the committee and Georgia swimming athletes.
