Don Lemieux (Head Coach)
The 2021-2022 season marks the 42nd season as Head Coach of Greenwood Swimming. While at Greenwood, Lemieux has coached swimmers to the USA National Team. Samantha Arsenault 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist and National Junior Team Erica Meissner Gold Medal Junior Pan Pacific Games along with Ryan and Kaitlin Harty National Junior Team members. Lemieux has coached 16 Olympic Trial Qualifiers and over 100 Junior National Qualifiers, 46 H.S. All-Americans, and several Scholastic All-Americans. He has coached his teams to win countless Age Group Championships, Senior Championships as well as the 1996 US Open Women’s Team Champions. As coach of the Gardner High School girl’s team his girls have won 15 consecutive State Championships and 16 State Titles. Lemieux 127 consecutive dual meets without a loss. HIs swimmers hold 9 out of 11 high school state records. Coach Lemieux served on the National Junior Team staff and has coached several USA training camps.
Lemieux believes his team goals are to create a team atmosphere of young athletes that thrive on challenges both academic and athletic.
Lemieux is a graduate of Springfield College (B.S.). He and his wife Patricia have 2 children Tricia and Donny and reside in Gardner MA.
Robert Owen (Assistant Coach)
Virginia Tech graduate and Massachusetts native, Robert Owen, joins Greenwood Swimming's coaching staff in the fall of 2021. In 2017-2018, Owen coached atop the nation's best athletes while on staff at Virginia Tech as a fifth-year volunteer while finishing his degree. He continued to gain coaching knowledge volunteering time with the WPI Swimming program in 2019-2020. Owen has also had club coaching experience of ages 7-18 in Florida this past year.
An NCAA Division I All-American, Owen was a two-time captain for the Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving program. He was a three-time individual ACC Champion in the 400 IM and helped the Hokies claim the 2014 ACC Championship. Owen still holds the ACC Meet record and Virginia Tech program record in the 400 IM.
Owen was named to the USA Swimming National Team for the 2016-2017 season and competed for Team USA at the World University Games (Taipei, Taiwan) in the summer of 2017, finaling in the 200 Backstroke. Owen also placed 6th overall at the 2016 US Olympic Swimming Trials in the 200 Backstroke, and 13th in the 400 IM.
Owen grew up swimming in Massachusetts, and excelled to become one of the best swimmers to come out of the state. In his club swimming career, Owen held multiple New England Swimming records. His personal best times still remain among the best in NE Swimming history.
Throughout his time as a swimmer, and collegiate and club coaching experience, Owen stresses the importance of a positive, family-like team atmosphere. He strives to challenge swimmers to be the best version of themselves, both in and out of the pool.
Robert and his wife, Adriana (Assistant Swim Coach at WPI), reside in Worcester, MA with their two French Bulldogs, Bruin and Fenway.
Adriana Owen (Assistant Coach)
Adriana Owen joins Greenwood Swimming's coaching staff in the fall of 2021 while serving as the full-time assistant coach (3rd season) for the WPI Engineers. In her first season on the WPI staff, the men’s and women’s teams scored third at the NEWMAC Championships behind MIT and Coast Guard. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2018, Owen coached for the 2019 NE-10 Conference Champion, Assumption University Women's Swimming while head coaching at Holyoke High School. This past year, Owen also coached club swimming in Florida, leading her swimmers to multiple top-3 individual and relay finishes at the Florida Age Group Championships.
In the water, the 2016 Olympic Trial qualifier earned All-American Honorable Mention status in the 200 and 400 medley relays, while also taking part in the 400 free relay at the 2018 NCAA Division I Championships. Owen, who was also part of the runner up 200 medley relay at the 2018 ACC Championships, is still atop the Virginia Tech program record board as a part of all 3 relays. Owen, formerly Grabski, grew up swimming in Pennsylvania, and is still known state-wide as being a 6-time state champion in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle.
Owen strongly believes in the values that club swimming instills in young athletes and strives to make a positive impact on swimmers of all ages.
Adriana and her husband, Robert (also a coach for Greenwood) reside in Worcester, MA with their two French Bulldogs, Bruin and Fenway.
