Dolphins, 

Are you excited for the start of swim team?  I sure am!!

If you are a new swim team family you may be wondering what to expect.  Please plan on arriving at least 5 minutes before practice starts; this will allow swimmers to have time to get their swim gear ready and take care of any bathroom visits.  If you need to try on suits please plan on doing this before practice starts!

During the first week of practice we will be giving swim test to all new Dolphins.  For the swim test swimmers must swim 25 yards unassisted.  Swimmers may swim in any style (freestyle, backstroke, just kicking, etc.), they cannot use the lane rope or the pool bottom.  Coaches will be in the water to assist swimmers if necessary.

All swim practices will begin with dynamic stretching, then move to water practice, and we will end with static stretching. During the pool portion of practice we will do a variety of sets to work on kicking and stroke technique as will as turns and diving.   All elements of practice are important to swimmer development and it is important for swimmers to be present for the entire practice.

If the water is too cold to swim, we will have a dryland practice either in the grass or in the community center.

What to bring to swim practice:

Swim Suit - for boys: trunks, jammers, or speedo, for girls: one-peice suit; all swimmers may practice in a swim shirt if they wish

Towel

Water Bottle

Goggles and swim cap

Clothing and Shoes - if we need to do dryland activities

Dolphins,

Congratulations on your first win of the season!  The final score against Barrington was 263/181; check out our Facebook page for videos of the final two relays! 

Special Shout Out to the 13-14 boys who swept all 4 strokes, the 15-18 boys who swept backstroke and breaststroke, and to the 15-18 girls who swept backstroke and butterfly!

For the past two weeks our 8 and unders have been working hard on their side breathing and have been learning breaststroke and butterfly. The 9-10s have been working on their turns, and our older swimmers have been working on technique for all strokes as well as building their endurance for meter pool races.

Dolphins,

The beginning of our season has gone great; our many new Dolphins have been working hard on learning the 4 competitive strokes as well as starts and turns.  This past week we had our first two duel meets and announced our first swimmers of the week.  Swimmers of the week show hard work during every practice and a desire to improve each day, we will announce these swimmers at each Wednesday night meet. Last week the swimmers of the week were: Clara, Tori, Rosie, Justin, Soe, and Harry.

On Saturday we raced Chantilly National; we had several swimmers swim best times for the season at this meet. 

Best times in Free: Jane, Mia, Liza, Jonathan L, Audrey, Ian C, Kyle, Kieran, Rhiann, and Lauren B.

Back: Ishaan, Marika, Evan B, Robert, Lilia, Joey, Gabe, Declan, Fiona, Addie, Sally, Ashley, and Lauren B.

Breast: Kien, Ishaan, Sofia, Evan B, Tori, Chloe, Lilia, Joey, Claire N, Henry, Kieran, Antonio, Rhiann, and Ashley.

Fly: Kien, Ishaan, Greg, Evan B, Gavin, Audrey, Ian C, Kyle, Antonio, and Sally.

And Congratulations to the 15-18 boys who swept all their events! (placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd)

goggles

swim cap (optional for practice, mandatory for meets)

towel

water bottle (bring to the lane)

tennis shoes

shorts/t-shirt
