What IS Swim School?
Swim school is TSA's swim lesson program, designed to introduce kids to the water and develop confidence. We will teach them the basic skills to be successful swimmers. Based on their comfort and skill level they will be placed in one of five levels. Each level has specific skills your child will learn and practice during their class time. You can view a complete list of the levels we offer online. At the end of the class session your child’s teacher will determine if they are ready for the next level. The final level of our swim school is Team Prep. The purpose of Team Prep is to transition swimmers into the competitive program.
When, Where, How Much?
All of our classes are held at the Capitol Federal Natatorium located at 6th and MacVicar in Hummer Sports Park. Our lessons take place in a small 4 lane pool located at the East end of the main building. The pool depth is between 4 and 5 feet and the water temperature is kept between 82 and 85 degrees. There are locker rooms available as well as 2 family bathrooms and showers for use.
Levels 1-4 will meet twice a week for 30 minutes for a total four weeks. Each four week session is $60.00 per child. Level 5 "Team Prep" meets three times a week for 45 minutes for a total of four weeks. Each four week session is $75.00. PAYMENT IS DUE AT THE TIME OF ENROLLMENT THROUGH OUR ONLINE ENROLLMENT SYSTEM.
Levels 1-4 are offered on Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursdays. Class times are 6:25-6:55 PM OR 7-7:30 PM. Team Prep practices on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30-7:15 PM only. Once you start the enrollment process you will be able to choose the level, days and times to enroll your swimmer.
What do I need to bring?
For each lesson, your child will need a swim suit, goggles and towel. Swim caps are optional but encouraged.
PLEASE NOTE: IT IS TOPEKA SWIM ASSOCIATION'S POLICY THAT CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER ARE NOT LEFT ALONE OR UNATTENDED AT THE POOL. Please make sure you accompany your children into our building and stay with them during their lesson. TSA coaches and staff cannot be responsible for your child outside of their lesson times.
