Hello and Welcome to MAC,
We are glad you have shown interest in our program and below is some information you might find helpful. The Magnolia Aquatic Club or MAC is a program celebrating its 12th year as a USA Swimming Club in 2014-2015. MAC is a member of United States Swimming, the National Governing Body for swimming in the U.S. MAC has humble begins by starting out with a small group of dedicated families in 2003 who had very little swimming experience, to now having grown to be a nationally recognized club program. MAC was listed as one of the top 100 swim clubs in the nation through the USA Swimming Club Excellence Program. MAC received the distinguish rating as a “Silver Medal Club” in 2013 and 2014. MAC also sent two athletes to the Olympic Trials in 2012 and has had several athletes go on to earn college scholarships. The most important thing you need to know about MAC is that you are more than just a number. We value every member of our team and we would love for you to be a part of it.
One of the things we at the MAC feel strongly about, is how the team is structured and making sure student athletes are in group’s that best fit their abilities, goals and needs. We know not all kids are at the same place physically, socially or emotionally with their swimming. We do our best to find the right fit for all swimmers. As swimmers progress in the sport we will continually provide them with new challenges and opportunities to be successful. We have groups for every level and no matter what your skill level is we will find the right fit for you.
The National Team is the highest competitive program for athletes age 13 and up. This program is tailored for athletes who have achieved upper level Age-Group status and have dedicated themselves to the sport of competitive swimming. The National Team specifically targets athletes who are training to prepare themselves for competition at the state and national level and/or a collegiate career.
The Pre-National Team consist of swimmers who have made a decision to make swimming a priority and are willing and able to the practice requirements for this group. Swimmers in this group are working toward advancing to higher levels of swimming, but are not at the TAGS or National Level. Consistent practice and meet attendance is a must for this group. Swimmers ages in this group range from 12 and over.
The Junior / Senior Team is a program that targets both high school students who are looking for extra help with their swimming and 11-14 age group swimmers who are capable of handling a 1 ½ hour practice session 4-5 times per week. Emphasis for this group is to help swimmers learn good stroke techniques, provide a good cardiovascular workout and improve overall fitness in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.
The Gold Team is an advanced competitive program for athletes age 9-12. This program is tailored for athletes who have decided that competitive swimming is the sport at which they wish to excel in. The Gold Team specifically targets athletes who have a working knowledge of training, are able to use more advanced training equipment, are capable of setting defined goals and are continuing to improve their technique in all four strokes. Regular practice and meet participation is required.
The Silver Team is an intermediate level competitive program for athletes ages 6-12. This program is tailored for athletes who have a working knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes and a understanding of how to train. The Silver Team specifically target athletes who have participated in competitive situations and are able to perform more complex training sets during practice. Regular practice and meet participation is required.
The Piranha Team is the 2nd tier of our developmental program for athletes ages 5-8. This program is tailored for athletes who are “legal” (can perform the strokes) in two strokes (Freestyle and Backstroke). These athletes want to continue their progress with more advanced stroke enhancement and skill development. The Piranha Team specifically targets young athletes who are new to a USA Swimming program and want a fun avenue to enhance their abilities.
The Bronze Team is the 3rd tier of our developmental program for athletes ages 5-10. This program is tailored for athletes who understand the concept of 3 out of the four competitive strokes and are proficient in two. These swimmers may have either participated in summer league, or are preparing for the summer league season. These athletes want to continue their progress with more advanced stroke enhancement and skill development. The Bronze Team specifically targets young athletes who are both new to USA Swimming and/or returning to USA Swimming who want a fun avenue to enhance their swimming skills.
The Future Champions are a non-competitive group and is the 1st tier of our developmental program for athletes ages 3-6. If a swimmer finds that he or she would like to pursue swimming beyond lessons, this is a great stepping stone to do just that. An “observational swim” may be requested to confirm placement of the athlete in the program.
