Irish Aquatics Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is our goal to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Green Group

Age                                

8 & Under

Skill Requirements        

Swim 25 yards unassisted

Practices                        

2-4 per week, 1 hour each

Basic Goals                   

Strong foundations in all 4 strokes
Legal Turns for all strokes
USA Swimming racing start progression
Increase basic endurance in the water both swimming and kicking

Dryland

Basic motion patterning
Core strength and stability
Basic bodyweight exercises 

Equipment    

Fins (not required to have their own)
Kickboard (not required to have their own)

To be considered for Bronze

Turn 9 years old OR
Demonstrate proficiency in all 4 strokes and the desire to move up
Legal racing starts and turns
Championship attitude

 Practices 

2-4 per week, 1.5 hours each

Basic Goals   

Strong foundations in all 4 strokes
Legal turns for all strokes
USA Swimming racing start progression
Increase basic endurance in the water in both swimming and kicking
IMR/IMX program participation
Learn basic pace clock usage
Introduction to sets in practice

Dryland 

Basic motion patterning
Core strength and stability
Basic bodyweight exercises
Lifting weighted objects through play

Equipment 

Water Bottle
Fins (not required to have own)
Kickboard (not required to have own)
Pull buoy (not required to have own)

To be considered for Silver   

9-10 years old: Divisional cut in 3 strokes
IMX events completed for age group
Championship attitude

Basic pace clock math/knowledge
Desire to move to the next level

Practices    

Short course: 4-6 per week, 2 hours each
Long course: 5-9 per week, 2 hours each

Aerobic Development
Prepare swimmers for a more competitive environment
Continued development of stroke mechanics
Realization of the connection between effort input and results output
IMR/IMX program participation
Beginning of race planning and strategy
Short and long term goal setting
Championship attitude

Dryland

Core strength and stability
Introductory strength and conditioning
Beacon dryland option (must be 11 years old by the championship meet to participate)
