BLAST History

The Black Hawk Area Swim Team (BLAST) was formed in 2001 with the merger of the Waterloo Sharks Swim Club and the Cedar Falls Swim Club.  Since that time BLAST has been the leader in youth swimming in the Cedar Valley.

Since 2001 BLAST has continued the rich history of the Cedar Valley started by both the Waterloo Sharks and Cedar Falls Swim Club.  Our athletes have set numerous state records, 12 national records, qualified for every level of regional and national competition, and placed top 8 at zones, sectionals, and the 18/under national championships.

During the spring of 2006 BLAST began a run at the Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals) and has placed in the top 10 every year the meet has been competed short course (2012 was held as a long course meet) since that time.
