FAQ's for PARENTS!!!
Q. When does the fall season begin? How long does it last?
A. Our try-outs and evaluations begin September 9th. The season goes through the end of February and into March for certain qualifiers for championship meets. We also offer spring and summer sessions that require separate registration
Q. This will be my child's first year. Do they need to attend every practice?
A. No. They do need to attend consistently 2x/week for 8 and Unders and 3x/week for 9-12 year olds. We understand that some weeks they may not be able to because of other activities. We hope as they progress they may choose swimming as their favorite activity and may then make a larger commitment!
Q. Is there a parent volunteer requirement?
A. Yes. We need parents to help at the swim meets we host or serve on a committee. We also have a rotating schedule of timers for away meets. We also need all families to participate in the swimathon fundraiser.
Q. How do practices and meets work? What do they need for their first practice?
A. Please send them with 2 pairs of goggles and have them wear their suit under their clothes to the pool- and then change to dry clothes after. They should also bring a refillable water bottle with name on it and their TYR Crossblade fins. They do not need a special suit right away. For more info on meets take a look at the Team Handbook!
- We recommend our TEAM STORE for swim equipment and team suits. Our team policy should you join is to always have 2 pairs of goggles with you at each practice and the TYR Crossblade Fins that you will have to purchase.
- Swimmers in our advanced Bronze 2/Silver training groups are encouraged to purchase a mesh bag and Finis Glide Swimmer's Snorkel (Front-Mount)
- Mesh bag and any equipment can be stored at the pool by members. Please have equipment/bag marked with names!
Q. Do I have to register before tryouts?
A. If you are a new first year family and not particularly sure that your child is ready or qualified for the team then you may attend tryout week or a practice before registration and payment.
Q. Do we need to attend every meet?
A. No, but keep in mind that meets are an important part of the swim team experience. We encourage newest and youngest swimmers to attend at least a minimum schedule that includes meets we host and those geared to novice swimmers. When the meet schedule is out in September we will be sure to point out the ones geared for new participants.
We offer a variety of locations and host home meets as well as attending local travel meets.
