Aquahawks in College
Class of 2018
Courtney Cruickshank- University of Kansas
Major: Undecided
Courtney has been a member of the Aquahawks for 10 years, as both a swimmer and now coach! Courtney plans to attend the University of Kansas in the Fall of 2018 but is unsure of her major at this time. As a swimmer, Courtney was a MV Championships qualifier, as well as a Top 3 finisher at both Districts and Winter Qualifier. Courtney is a member of the Missouri Valley All-Academic team. For Free State High School, Courtney was a Sunflower League Top 12 Finalist, as well as a State Qualifier. Courtney's favorite Aquahawk memories include playing kickball, sharks & minnows and follow-the-leader swim style with former Aquahawk Coach, Cameron. Outside the pool, Courtney is a member of the Free State Marching Band, National Honor Society, Student Athletic Advisory, Chancellor's Top Scholar, Kansas History Day participant, Art Club. We wish Courtney the best of luck at KU next year!!
Hailei Detwiler- Coe College
Major: Psychology/Sociology
Hailei has been on the Aquahawks for 10 years and plans to continue her swimming career at Coe College next year. Hailei is a Missouri Valley Championships qualifier, four time Kansas High School State qualifier, four year Varsity Letterman and was member of the 2015 Kansas 6A State Championship Team. Hailei is a Senior Captain for the Free State Girls team this year. Hailei is also a member of National Honor Society and a three time Missouri Valley All-Academic Team. In addition to being a swimmer, she is an Orchestra letterman and has received four consecutive "1" (Excellent) ratings for Orchestra State Large Ensemble. Hailei's favorite Aquahawk memories include having Coach Andrew sing "I believe you can fly" to her on the pool deck, Graveyard runs and driving Coach Andrew home from a swim meet where he was stuffed in the trunk of the family car.
