The Southwest Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Southwest Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Polliwogs: These are our beginning swimmers. The swim for 30 minutes twice a week. The goals for this group are to introduce the 4 strokes, learn to swim safely in a lane. Learn competitive swimming vocabulary, build endurance and learn racing starts. Most of the swimmers in the group are 5-10 years of age. These swimmers are eligible and encouraged to attend swim meets.
Minnows: Minnows swim for an hour. They have four practices per week and are encourage to attend at least two to three times each week. These swimmers have a basic understanding of all 4 strokes. They are normally ages 8-12. Minnows are still focusing on technique refinement and efficiency in the water. They are also learning flip turns and proper open turns. Minnows are learning how to swim sets and read a pace clock as well.
Dolphins: Dolphins have a firm understanding of all four strokes and can swim most races offered in their age group without worry of disqualification. Dolphins swim four times per week one and one half hours. Dolphins should try to attend all four practices each week when possible. The Dolphin swimmers are focusing more on building aerobic base and race strategy. Dolphins range in age from 9-14 years of age.
Sharks: Our Sharks are our most elite swimmers. They have several years of competitive swimming experience. Sharks are usually 13-18 years of age. Sharks will swim for two hours each night four or 5 days per week. Sharks should attend 100% of practices if possible.
