The Head Coach will decide when any swimmer can move into this group. Swimmers will have to demonstrate the ability to do the highest level of work to get into and stay in this group. Attendance will be taken and also each swimmer's performance will be monitored at workouts. Swimmers will compete locally and nationally. There are 9 practices a week (including doubles), along with regular dry land sessions.
Swimmers must have advanced skills, meet the set time standards for this group, and have the willingness to commit to excellence. Swimmers will compete locally and nationally. Attendance will be taken. There are 8 practices a week (including doubles), along with regular dry land sessions.
Swimmers in the PA group must have a competitive background and be able to meet workout set time standards. Instructions will focus on all strokes, starts, turns, race planning and faster set swimming. Swimmers will compete locally and regionally. Attendance will be taken. There are 5 practices a week, along with dry land sessions. Some high school swimmers in the PA group will follow a different practice schedule.
Swimmers in this group must have some competitive background and meet USA BB/B times and workout set time standards. Swimmers will compete locally. Instruction and training will focus on all strokes, starts and turns and aerobic swimming. Attendance will be taken. There are 4-5 practices a week.
This group is for beginning competitive swimmers who have passed their Red Cross swimmers test. Swimmers will learn all strokes, starts and turns. Summer practice is optional for the Pittsburgh group. If participating during the summer, swimmers will have the option to swim on Mondays and Wednesdays at either pool for the month of May. This group meets 3-4 times a week.
Squirrel Hill Group
Swimmers will compete in local intramural meets (swimmers may compete in US swim meets with approval from Al Rose). This group meets twice a week. Contact our Aquatic Director for more information about this group.
