Dublin Dolphins Summer Swim Teams
2020 Season Dates TBD
The Dublin Dolphins Swim Team is a recreational summer team that competes in the N.E.W. League, a local summer swim league. The Dolphin Teams practice in the mornings at either the North or South Community pools. Members of the team are required to have a Dublin Community Pool season pass and to be City of Dublin residents or Dublin City School District residents. The swimmers age as of June 1st determines the swimmers age for the season. There are weekly competitions with other NEW league teams on Wednesday nights along with a few special meets ( Kate Brown, Irish Relays and Championships).
Swim team practices begin on the morning of 2020 TBD and are held every weekday morning (excluding Wednesday this year) through the course of the season. Practice participation is required as part of being on the team and competing. If you do not know whether your schedule will allow your participation, please contact Patrick Johnston prior to registering. Advanced swimmers who train with outside swimming clubs still need to fulfill practice expectations in order to participate in competitions with the teams.
Ability Requirements: The swim team is not a replacement for swim lessons and all new members must pass an evaluation.
- Swimmers joining as 9 and older must be able to swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the competition pool) freestyle without stopping and with proper breathing and able to swim 25 yards of backstroke.
- Swimmers competing as 8 and younger must be able to float comfortably on both front and back, and swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke.
Swimmers who have competed on year round programs do not need to be evaluated, and will need to get an exemption from Patrick Johnston at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Required New Swimmer Evaluations
New swimmers must attend a one-on-one evaluation at the DCRC lap pool. This determines eligibility for the team, not registration. Parents, please review the requirements listed above prior to bringing children for an evaluation. Swimmers who are unable to complete the requirements, are recommended to register for swim lessons or to return for another evaluation. See dates and times under "2020 Evaluations" under the INFO tab.
Completing an evaluation DOES NOT save your swimmer a seat in the Dolphins program
Swimmers are able to register early for the team they were on in the 2019 season if registering as a “returning swimmer”. Swimmers and families wishing to change teams will need to wait until open enrollments to sign up for a different team. New team members (including siblings of returning swimmers) must either pass a skill assessment or provide information of previous swim team experience, prior to the online registration. Spots are limited and go very quickly.
Returning 2019 swimmers and siblings (same team) MONDAY, APRIL 20, 7PM
Open Enrollment MONDAY, APRIL 27, at 7PM
Refunds are not processed without a physician’s note after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. A $25 administrative fee is assessed for all refunds.
