In addition to the Waves, we offer a unique program called the “Ripples” for 5 – 8 year-olds who are just beginning their competitive swimming career and require a little extra attention in their workouts. This program accepts a limited number of swimmers (30-40) and consists of three separate 30 minute practice sessions beginning after school is out for summer. Swimmers will be divided into groups at the coach’s discretion. Ripples swimmers must be ready and willing to learn to swim freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers need to be able to leave their parent and enter the water with the coaches. They don’t yet need to be able to swim a full length of the pool (25 meters) in a recognizable stroke. However, Ripples swimmers must be comfortable in the water i.e. submerge face in the water and blow bubbles, float unassisted on front and back, kick independently on front and back, and be comfortable entering the water where they cannot stand.
The Ripples program is meant for swimmers working toward becoming part of the Waves competitive swim program. It is not meant to be swim lessons. Swimmers not yet eligible for the Ripple program will be referred to the CountrySide Tide swim lesson program.
Swimmers must be at least 5 years old or entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2020.
All Ripples will be evaluated prior to school closing in order for registration to be approved and to be placed in a practice group. Your swimmer will be evaluated individually and it should just take a few minutes per child. At that time, if the coaching staff determines a swimmer is not proficient enough to participate, the registration fee will be refunded. Should a child later prove to be continually disruptive, unruly or un-cooperative, the coach may remove the child from the program without refund. Please note: In case of over-registration, Waves' siblings will get first priority in the Ripples program.
