Volunteers

The Farmstead Flying Fish Swim Team is a volunteer-driven and parent led team.  The successful operation of this team relies very heavily on parent involvement. All Farmstead families are required to work 5 jobs at meets plus one job at either the City or Classic meet.  You will have an opportunity to select jobs once on-line Job Sign Up is open.  For a description of parent volunteer jobs please see below.

 

Bag Tag Runner

T/TH – 5:00 pm check-in
Sat – 8:00 am check-in

One volunteer for each home meet, the Bag Tag Runner is on the pool deck and responsible for giving a bag tag to the winner of each heat.  The Bag Tag Runner will receive the bag tags at the announcer's stand.  The check-in time for this job is at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.  This job finishes after the final heat of the meet is complete and the bag tags are returned to the announcer stand. 

Concessions A 

Tues./Thurs:  4:00 PM – Event #28 (estimated time 7:00 pm)
Sat. 6:45 am – Event #28 (estimated time 9:30 am)

Concessions B

Tues/Thurs. Event #28/heat 1 (estimated time 6:45 pm) – Breakdown is complete 
Sat Event #28/heat 1 (estimated time 9:15 am) – Breakdown is complete

Subs must be 18 or older

Workers prepare the pool area for home meets, moderate to heavy lifting may be required.  Then work selling concessions (food, drinks and snacks) in the concession area.  Please be aware that when it is your child’s turn to swim, someone in the concessions area can temporarily cover for you.  NOTE: Couples please do not schedule same shift, opposite shift is ok.  Difficult to cover area when more than one person leaves to watch their swimmer.  

Timers

T/TH – 5:00 pm check-in
Sat – 8:00 am check-in

Each timer is assigned a lane to time the swimmers.  There are three timers on each lane so an average is taken for the most accurate time.  There are also back-up timers, should someone fail to start their watch or miss the start of a race.   You check in with the head timers (usually located in concessions area) 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.  All timers must attend the timers’ meeting held 15 minutes prior to the start of the meet.  Please arrive early so that we may start the meet on time.

Runners

T/TH – 5:00 pm check-in
Sat – 8:00 am check-in

Walk the pool deck to distribute/collect time sheets from timers.  Also collect DQ cards from officials.  All sheets & cards will be delivered to computer table.  Will also provide relief for Bag Tag Runners.  Runners check-in with the head timers (usually located in concessions area) & need to attend the timers’ meeting held 15 minutes prior to the start of the meet.

Computer

T/TH – 5:15 pm check-in
Sat – 8:15 am check-in

Subs must be 18 or older

You will take the time sheets and DQ cards from the runners.  You will check the times and arrange them in order of finishing so they can be read and input in the computer.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the meet start and check in with the Farmstead Pool office.  At AWAY meets, check-in with head timers.
