Tryouts for 2018-19 Riptide Swim Team:

Fall/Winter Riptide Swim Team (September-February)

Our regular season runs from September to February (possibly March or April, depending on the championship meets you qualify for.). To join as a new team member, you must try out and make the team during the summer. Tryouts are generally held at Brookside Swim Club in Milltown, NJ on select Sundays in July. When you try out, you will try out for your age group for the upcoming season (age as of December 1st, 2018, not necessarily your age as of the tryouts). As the summer gets closer, check back here for tryout dates and times.

Spring Fling (Also open to Non-Riptide Swimmers) - Registration Open Now!

Spring Fling is an eight-week stroke and turn clinic that is a great way to improve your strokes and/or get ready for the summer season. In this program, we focus on working technique, while also including workout sets. You do not need to be a member of the winter team to participate, however, previous swimming experience is recommended. (Spring Fling is not swim lessons! Swimmers must already be able to swim multiple laps on their own.) Registration is now open, and the program begins April 23rd. Practices are Monday night (Middlesex County College), Wednesday night (Middlesex County College), and Thursday night (Perth Amboy YMCA).

Spring/Summer Long Course Season - Registration Open Now!

Our Long Course Season will feature continuous, intense training from mid-April through July. We will train in our usual short course facilities, as well as mixing in practices and meets at long course (50-meter) pools. Registration for the summer long course season program may be restricted by age, time standards, and whether or not you have been a member of the Riptide winter team. Summer Splash Swim Training - Offered in June/July  - 2018 Coming Soon!
(Also open to Non-Riptide Swimmers)

Summer Splash is a summer training program featuring high-intensity workouts in an effort to increase swimming endurance and speed, while still competing for your summer club. Practices take place in the early morning. You do not have to be a member of the Riptide Swim team in order to participate in this program, but will have to register as a member of the YMCA. More details and registration information will be available in May. Program begins in late June as soon as the public schools in the area are out for the summer, and continues through July. Practices are at Brookside Swim Club in Milltown, with occasional long course practices at Princeton University.

March Madness: Stroke & Turn, & Swim Training-
Registration Begins in February

The March Madness program lasts 6 weeks, through March, and early April. It is intended to "bridge the gap" from the winter season to the spring/summer season for swimmers who wish to continue training during this time without a break. Practice will included both stroke & turn work and practice training sets. You DO NOT have to be a current member of the Riptide Swim Team to participate in this program, but current Riptide swimmers will have priority for registration. Swimmers new to the program must schedule a tryout and have a current YMCA membership. Practices are Wednesday night (Middlesex County College), Friday night (Middlesex County College), and Sunday morning (North Brunswick Township High School).
