Rules and Regulations for Pool and Premises

To be Reviewed Annually by the Board of Trustees

-Revised 29 January, 2009

The following rules and regulations have been established by the Board of Trustees for the protection and benefit of all members and their guests and to assure safe and sanitary operation of the Club facilities. Parents are requested to caution their children to observe all rules and to obey instructions of the Club Manager and authorized employees. The Club Manager has full responsibility for conduct and discipline at the pool and other authorized Club employees, whose instructions must be followed, or disciplinary action in the form of suspension of Club privileges will result. The Staff has been instructed to anticipate rather than remedy. With full cooperation of the membership, we will be safe and well, enjoy ourselves and rarely hear a whistle.

Pool

Hours (Open and Restricted)

  1. The pool will be open seven days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting. The closing date may be extended by the Board of Trustees in the event of favorable weather conditions if, in their opinion, this extension is feasible.

  2. The pool will be open from 12:00 noon to 9:00 P.M., Monday through Friday and 11:00 A.M to 9:00P.M., Saturday and Sunday, for general swimming when Centerville schools are not in session.

  3. Prior to or after normal operating hours, an area of the pool may be reserved by the Club Manager for group or individual instruction.

  4. The Social-Recreation Representative may designate periods for special events. Adequate notification will be posted.

  5. The Club Manager may restrict swimming or prohibit swimming for periods of maintenance, inclement weather (e.g. lightning in the area) or health conditions. These periods shall be limited as much as possible, with swimming restored at the earliest safe time. Temperature conditions are not generally cause to restrict swimming between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The manager on duty shall monitor the water temperature and initiate heating procedures whenever necessary to keep the pool at an acceptable swimming temperature throughout the summer. During times of restricted or prohibited swimming, the remaining Club facilities shall remain open for the normal business hours as described in paragraph 1.A.2 above. At least one manager and one lifeguard shall remain on duty until closing time.

  6. There will be absolutely no swimming permitted unless a Club lifeguard is on duty.

  7. Ten minutes of every hour will be designated adult (18 or over) swimming time or, at the discretion of the Club Manager, swimming may be discontinued for part of this time. A child who is five years of age or younger may swim with parents.

Pool Discipline

  1. The lifeguard or manager on duty is the authority on matters of discipline at the front desk and the pool. His or her instructions must be followed, or disciplinary action in the form of suspension of swimming privileges will result.

  2. The lifeguards are instructed to report all serious infractions or refusal to follow instructions to the Club Manager.

  3. All complaints of members are to be directed to the Club Manager and not to the lifeguards.

  4. Members and guests shall not fraternize with on-duty lifeguards.

  5. Members and guests shall not linger around or otherwise disturb the desk workers on duty.

  6. The Discipline Policy will be strictly enforced. The policy is listed below:

  • The first offense will result in a warning to the person and parents if applicable

  • The second offense will result in a week suspension and a call to the parents.

  • The third offense will result in permanent suspension for the remainder of the pool year.

  • The Board of Trustees or Club Manager may discipline without regard to the three-offense policy particularly in matters of safety, disregarding authority, disturbing other members, and illegal actions such as vandalism, theft, and underage drinking. All decisions of the Board of Trustees are final.

General

Pool member families who rely on a baby sitter or nanny to provide primary care to their children may petition the board for inclusion of the baby sitter on their family membership. Members will make application in writing to the Board, at the time of dues renewal or membership application, with the baby sitter's name, birthdates, and a brief explanation of the baby sitter's relationship to the family. This petition must be renewed annually. Approved baby-sitters will be allowed entry when acting in the baby sitting capacity. No other membership benefits are included.

The Club will not be responsible for loss of or damage to personal property.

  • Club property damage will be charged to the responsible member.

  • Employees of the Club are bound to adhere to the foregoing Rules and Regulations.

  • The first Monday of each week, the Manager may turn over to an appropriate charitable organization any article in the Lost and Found.

  • Woodhaven Swim and Tennis Club staff will not provide baby-sitting service. Children using the Kiddie Pool must be under the direct supervision of a responsible person at all times.

Private Parties

  • The Club may allow private parties and other special activities when requested in person by members to the Manager.

  • Private parties must be approved in advance to guarantee space and access to grills. The request must include date, time, total number of participants and their names.

  • Private parties are a club benefit, so no additional fees apply. Non-member guests will be assessed the appropriate guest fee however. All fees must be paid in advance.

  • Private parties must end by regular closing and may not require closing of pool to General membership.

  • Regular social functions of the Club are determined by the board of directors and have precedence over private parties. Where there is no conflict, parties are generally approved on a first-come first-served basis.

Privacy Policy

  • Woodhaven Swim and Tennis Club values the privacy of its members. All collection of personal data is for the sole purpose of conducting pool business. No transfer of data to third parties will be authorized without prior approval of individual members.

  • Members/employees who misuse personal data will be subject to disciplinary action to include expulsion/dismissal. The Board is the final authority on such matters.

  • The above Rules and Regulations may be changed if and when necessary at the discretion and by direction of the Board of Trustees. Full cooperation by all members will provide us with a pleasure resort of equal opportunities and enjoyment by all.
