The success of your child’s swimming experience depends on many different factors. Our coaching staff will place each child in the appropriate workout level according to his/her individual skill. A good portion of practice will involve repetition of skills, strength work, endurance and technique. What may appear to be playing around might actually be a swimming drill to improve technique. Please remember to reward your child for the effort and dedication they have given. As in most situations in life, these two skills will encourage positive outcomes. Children will gain self-esteem while working on their swimming skills. Being a swimmer may be temporary, but self-esteem lasts forever.
Practice Dates and Times
Before MCPS out for summer (school is OUT)
Ages 13 and up 4:30-5:30 pm
Ages 8 and under 5:30-6:15 pm (not for Pre Team - see below)
Ages 9-12 6:15-7:15 pm
Starting After MCPS out for Summer (begins Monday, June 20, 2022)
Morning practice held Monday thru Friday as follows:
Ages 13 and up 8:15 - 9:30 am
Ages 9-12 9:30 - 10:30 am
Ages 8 and under 10:30 - 11:15 am (Includes Pre-Team starting June 21)
Mon, Tue, and Thu afternoons only (No Wed. or Friday afternoon practices):
Ages 11 and up 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Ages 10 and under 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Please contact coaches if your 11-12 year old can not make the earlier session in the afternoon.
- During the first few weeks of practice (before the school year ends) there will be no practice for the Pre-Team Practice for Pre-Team will begin on June 21.
Practice for Swimmers 10 and under:
Parents: Please do not approach the coaching staff to talk with them during swim team practice. They remain available for parent/coach communication at the end of each practice, or you may wish to put your questions/concerns in writing and leave the message in the designated spot on the bulletin board.
