This is our entry level group. An athlete should possess certain basic swimming levels in order to start developing proper technique in the freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and buttefly. The amount of yards a swimmer does per practice is not important yet as the swimmer focuses on developing good habits in all four strokes in addition to learning all the fundamentals such as stroke turns and dives. Most of the swimmers in this group are not yet ready for competition, but that does however vary with the age of the swimmer.
Bronze Group Coach: Scott Gerrity (201) 220-9864
Workout Days/Times: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays @ 47th Street Pool from 3:30pm-5:00pm
From the Bronze group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group continue to focus on developing good stroke technique but they start to incorporate more yards into their daily regime in order to start developing endurance in their training. Swimmers are more formally introduced to using the pace clock as a tool to be used in practice. Swimmers can be further sub-divided by lanes in order for the coach to adjust intervals at an appropriate rate for the group. Starts and turns are still very much a key component as swimmers will also focus more on competing at meets than when they were in the Bronze Group. They will also be guided by the coaching staff on swimming different events in both short course and long course season. For every stroke, swimmers begin to try out competing in 50s, 100s, and 200s. The coach and swimmer will start to address weaknesses and strengths so that when the swimmer does move up to Gold he/she will know what their strongest events are and what their weakest events are. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged, but may not be as frequent as the Gold Group.
Silver Group Coach: Emmanuel Ramirez (Head Coach) (201)566-0835
Workout Days/Times: TBA
From the Silver group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 10 years old and have been cleared by the Silver Group Coach and Head Coach. Clearance is very important being that the Gold Group is meant to challenge the athlete daily while always focusing on the fundamentals of the sport.
This group is exposed to a high-level of training that can range anywhere from 5,000 yards to 8,000 yards depending on the lane and sub-group. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month although some more advanced skilled swimmers may attend 2-3 times a month if they qualify for particular meets.
Gold Group Coach: Verapol "Nick" Kidchob, Rattana Kidchob, and Adalid De La Torre
Workout Days/Times: Monday to Friday 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm and Sunday 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM (practice time including 45 minutes dry land exercise before pool time, please wear sneakers for dryland) OFF SATURDAY !!!
