The Middies Swim Team is very proud of its swimmers’ accomplishments. Since its inception in 1967, the team has had only seven head coaches, and their YWCA winning tradition has continued for 30+ years!
Since 1984, the Middies Swim Team has made a significant impact at the local, regional, state and national levels.
Over the course of the past two decades years, the Middies has had swimmers qualify and swim in the Olympics, US Olympic Trials, the Olympic Festival, USA Nationals, US Open, National Junior Championships, Regionals and Zones and have attained many Top 8 finishes. Numerous Middies have achieved Top 16 Age-Group rankings, Top 10 Relay rankings, ASCA motivational List Rankings, High School All-American honors as well as many Con-Ed award winners.
As a team, the Middies has won the YWCA National Championships for the past 22 consecutive years and now hold many individual and relay records. The team has won many of our area’s most competitive meets including; Metropolitan Junior Olympics, the Westchester County Championships, Senior Mets combined team champions and the Region I Short Course Championships. In the past 15 years, we have also had numerous top ten finishes at the National Junior Championships.
The Middies has also been amply represented at the high school swimming level All-American honors, New York State Champions, Section I Champions and record holders as well as numerous All-State, All-Section and All-County honorees.
At the New York State Empire State Games held every summer, Middies have distinguished themselves in both swimming and water polo by garnering many gold, silver and bronze medals.
The Middies swimmers have achieved success at every level of competitive swimming. Our tradition of excellence serves as a foundation upon which to build for even greater success in the future. We look forward to seeing our swimmers continue their dominance at the local level and further their achievements at the regional and national levels.
