CHAMBLEE, DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA OVERVIEW
In DeKalb County, Chamblee is the most heavily populated and ethnically diverse city. The population of over 15,000 people is 58.5% Hispanic or Latino. There are 2 culturally diverse elementary schools in Chamblee. Another elementary school is located in Doraville that also is multicultural.
DRESDEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Dresden Elementary School is located only a few blocks from the Chamblee facility. Dresden has over 900 children representing 20 different countries. For the past 2 years, Dynamo has partnered with Dresden to provide discounted water safety classes and discounted swim lessons for its young students. During this time period, 76 families have availed themselves of this outreach program to help drown proof their children. Dynamo will continue this program with plans to expand the availability of discounted or free swim lessons for the Dresden school community.
Cary Reynolds Elementary School
This school is located in Doraville, which is the neighboring town to Chamblee. The children in this school represent 30 different countries and speak 40 different languages. Dynamo would like to begin a water safety program with the economically disadvantaged children at Cary Reynolds.
DYNAMO SWIM SCHOOL
The Dynamo Swim School has 7 locations located throughout the metro area. In each of these locations, Dynamo plans to provide water safety programs and swim lessons to economically disadvantaged children, ages 4 – 9, in order to lessen the risk of accidental drowning.
