Swimming is an important and incredibly fun life skill.  We are happy to offer swimming lessons to people of all ages three years old and up.  All our instructors are certified lifeguards and members of the CMU Competitive Swim Team. Let's get swimming!

Here's what you need to know.

  • WHERE?   Colorado Mesa University Pool in the CMU Rec Center

  • WHAT AGE RANGE DO YOU TEACH?  We teach swimming to kids as young as 3 and adults into their senior years.  The CMU pool is kept at competition temperature, which is typically too cold for babies and toddlers to be comfortable.

** If looking for infant/baby swimming classes please contact Linnaea separately as we have contact information available for ISR classes for infants as young as 6 months old.

  • WHEN?  Lesson are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with 9 lessons in each session.

  • HOW LONG?  Each lesson is a half hour.

    • We will do our best to accommodate your first preference of time slot however not all requests can be fulfilled. We apologize for any inconvience.

    • The time slot can't be changed after we have assigned them.

  • SCHEDULE:  Our Fall Lessons will be held from 6:00pm-7:00 pm.

  • LESSON SIZE?

    • We make every effort to limit our group lessons to 3 swimmers per instructor.

    • Register as soon as possible to reserve a space.

  • COST?

    • Group lessons are $90.00 for 9 lessons. Cost is per swimmer, per session.

    • If you need to cancel a lesson reservation, please email Linnaea (lazaenger@gmail.com) at least one week prior to the session start date.

    • Regular attendance is encouraged as we are unable to offer make-up lessons or pro-rate our lessons.

    • Payment is due at the time of the first lesson.

    • We take cash or check. We are unable to take cards and apologize for any inconvenience.

  • PARKING?

    • The best place to park is in the two-level parking structure adjacent to the Rec Center with the entrance on 12th Street and Mesa Ave (across the street from Right Aid)

    • When CMU is in session, most parking lots at CMU require a parking pass.  However, the Rec Center parking lot will have open parking anytime after 4pm.

    • ** During the summer session, CMU does not ticket in the garage parking. There is free parking all day for lessons and swim.

  • WHAT DO I BRING?

    • Swimsuit (one piece for girls is best, surf shorts or jammers for boys),

    • Snug-fitting goggles are a must.

    • Caps help those with longer hair.

    • Goggles & caps are sold at the CMU Rec Center Check-in Desk.

  • REGISTRATION?  Please see the link below to register for lessons.

    • Please fill out a separate registration form for each swimmer in your family so each swimmer shows up on our roster.

    • Unfortunately, our system does not send out a confirmation but all parents will receive an email the Friday before lessons notifying the time slot your swimmer will be in so please make sure to include the correct email you would like to be contacted at.

    • Due to our limited class sizes, no walk-in registrations will be accepted
