Groups

CBAC offers year-round training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is our goal to offer age and skill specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities. New swimmers will be placed based on their current level of comfort; the following are general guidelines for practice groups.

SWIM GROUPS

Lessons program

Description: Offered by Seneca Swim School.  See website for more information.

Copper Group (8&Under)

Practice Frequency: 3-4 practices per week; offered M, T, W, Th, F p.m. for 1 hour and 15 minutes
​Requirements:  100 Freestyle demonstrating alternate breathing. 50 Backstroke, 25 Breaststroke, and idea of how to do butterfly with proper kick.
Description:  Under the guidance of professional coaches, 8&Under swimmers will learn and develop the four (4) competitive swimming strokes, racing starts and turns. This program is an excellent introduction to year-round competitive swimming.

Required Equipment: Team suit, Team Cap, Practice Suit, Goggles, Water Bottle, Fins
Optional Equipment: Practice Cap, Junior Kickboard

Bronze Group (9-10)

Practice Frequency: 3-5 practices per week; offered M,T,W,Th, and F p.m. for 1.5 hours
Requirements:  Must be proficient at all 4 competitive strokes. Complete 200 yards with turns.
Description: The 9-10 group is designed to help young swimmers develop a solid base for competitive swimming. Emphasis will be stroke fundamentals, practice habits, and competition basics necessary to train and compete at more advanced levels. We encourage regular year-round participation but also encourage everyone to begin with the level of commitment they are comfortable with and work from there. Competing in meets once a month year-round is recommended.

Required Equipment: Team suit, Team Cap, Practice Suit, Goggles, Water Bottle, Fins
Optional Equipment: Practice Cap, Junior Kickboard

Silver Group (11-14)

Practice Frequency:  4-6 practices per week; offered M,T,W,Th, and F p.m., and Sat a.m for 2 hours
Requirements:  Must be proficient at all 4 competitive strokes. Complete continuous 500 yards with turns.
Description: While in the Silver group, swimmers will develop the technique, training habits, and race preparation necessary to develop into a successful senior level swimmer, including an increased emphasis on aerobic endurance training and more advanced racing strategies. Silver swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in all sessions of a meet once a month year-round.

Optional Equipment: Practice Cap, Kickboard

Gold Group (High school athletes)

Practice Frequency: 6-8 practices per week:  M,T, W, Th, F p.m.; T, Th, Sat a.m. 
Requirements:  This group is for swimmers interested in maximizing their potential by training year-round. Swimmers must be entering high school and have a previously demonstrated commitment to training and competition. 
Description:  Gold group swimmers will refine technique, build training habits, and race preparation necessary to develop into a successful senior level swimmer, and learn preparation and execution of peak performance at two or more competitions throughout the year.
