Skjaerpe Strikes Gold at Southern Zone Championship in Atlanta

August 2010 � Team Florida captured its 4th consecutive team title at the 2010 Southern Zone Championship at Georgia Tech (site of the 1996 Centennial Olympics). TBAY Central's Rasmus Skjaerpe, 14 (second from left) was a big contributor to the team success with 5 final swims and anchoring the 13 & 14 Boys 200 Free Relay to a gold medal in the final event of the competition. Team Florida won the girls' Zones meet with 617.5 points. They won by more than 100 points over Georgia, who finished a clear second with 483 points, while Kentucky rounded out the top three with 397.5 points.

Florida and Georgia also went 1-2 in boys' competition, with a much smaller 12.5 point margin, 499.5 points to 487 points. TBAY Central's Jason Bowes was also selected to represent the 2010 Zone Championship team as a part of the coaching staff. " The team did a fantastic job at gelling together and reaching all the goals that were set out to them by the coaching staff. It was a great experience and week for all these young swimmers who stepped up and swam fast in fighting for our 4th title in as many years.
